It's a Bird, No a Plane, No It's a Big Butterfly

I have two huge "Mexican Bird of Paradise" Bushes in my yard and they attract the hummingbirds, the bees, and the butterflies. It is a great plant and blooms from April to October each year. It is an amazing plant the traffic never stops.

nature photos: Fall is here so Celebrate - 09/21/12 02:09 PM
Fall is here so Celebrate!

This morning is the official first day of fall, Sept. 22, 2012. It is my absolute favorite time of the year! I have been collecting pictures of fall to share this morning. Enjoy!
The leaves are starting to turn golden tones and fall off the trees and the Mum flowers are in the stores and in a variety of colors so I fill my yard with all the colors.

The vegetables are still pretty and bright and make a good pot of soup as the weather is cooling off and of course the … (14 comments)

nature photos: Bridges are Fasinating - 09/17/12 09:35 AM
Bridges are Fascinating

Recently we traveled to Pennsylvania, drove through New York and then on to Boston. I was fascinated by all the bridges we passed over. New York had so many bridges that I was overwhelmed. Even though we couldn’t safely stop to take pictures, I got quite a few from the car.

For many of you who regularly travel in this area, you may recognize these bridges. Most of us sell real estate so these bridges are just a way to get from one place to another and over all the waterways.

nature photos: Did you know there are Wild Burros in Grand Terrace, CA? - 09/08/12 12:12 PM
Did you know there are Wild Burros in Grand Terrace, CA?

I have been noticing the wild burros off Reche Canyon Road for several years but did not realize they are roaming the hills in herds.

Recently the local news (ABC, NBC, and CBS) ran stories about them causing traffic problems in the south east end of Grand Terrace, CA. Residents are now feeding them hay and carrots and buckets of water. Pictures appeared of residents hand feeding them carrots so they must be pretty tame.

Problem is they are not fearful of crossing the streets … (11 comments)

Sheriff’s Posse at the Desert Hills Outlet Mall

Last weekend there was a lot of traffic for the Labor Day holiday weekend sales at the Cabazon's Desert Hills Premium Outlet Mall.

The Riverside Sheriff’s Posse was there directing traffic, checking for Caifornia Handicap placards in cars, and keeping the peace.

Usually the traffic is at a standstill but having the deputies there really keep traffic flowing nicely and made it safer.

It was funny to see the posse in front of the designer stores too.

Do Not Go Shopping and Leave your Dog in a HOT CAR

We read these headlines all the time and most of us abide by the rules knowing that it is morally wrong and that we could be charged with a crime for being negligent. But yesterday while shopping at Camarillo Outlet Mall, I came out of a store and another lady had just noticed that a big fluffy dog had been left in the car and only the front windows were down about 1" on both sides.

The dog was already panting but did not look … (20 comments)

Check out Gary Cole’s neighbor, a redheaded beauty. The area looks so interesting and what a great place to live and view wildlife. Stop by Gary's site and say hello.

I just noticed that I have a new neighbor.  Normally this redhead is very shy but I did get this photo early this evening.

nature photos: Hang up Bird Feeders during Fall Migration Aug-Dec ...Save The Birds - 08/31/12 09:09 AM

Keep Your Bird Feeders Well Stocked during Fall Migration Aug-Dec

This year's bird migration is complicated by the lack of natural wildflowers, which have been hit hard by drought and forest fires. So birds that are looking about for their usual food sources are heading elsewhere. Large numbers of birds are swarming feeding stations set up in gardens and backyards in drought areas.

Some hummingbird species fly 2,000 miles during migration. And with a heart rate of up to 1,200 beats per minutes, they often need to eat five times their body weight, every day. … (11 comments)

Dogs can shop at the Apple Store too!

I had to run over to Rancho Cucamonga, CA and stopped in at the Apple store to buy a new iPhone case. Much to my surprise a huge Great Dane was walking up the street and also going shopping at the Apple store with his owner. Meet Max, a huge Great Dane who was full of personality and so friendly.

He had a nice collar on plus he had a friend with him named Lola.

Look at that face? Adorable! Stop in at the Apple Store and maybe you will … (4 comments)

My, What Big Antlers You Have!
While in Alaska we saw this magnificent moose lift his head up from the fields below. We were traveling on the train heading to Mt.McKinley.

Alaska is such a great place to go and spend a vacation.

This was our third trip there. The hotels are wonderful, the train is fantastic, and the cruise ship buses make travel so easily. But best of all is the nature in Alaska. The scenery is beautiful and the wildlife is magnificent.
Have you ever been to Alaska?

nature photos: Add Some Sunshine into Your Life - 08/19/12 11:42 AM

The sun represents glory, authority and something that is bright. The sun gives to us happiness and a sense of spirit and life.

The sun that comes up in the morning represents hope, birth, creation, and enlightenment.

The symbol of the sun has become a popular symbol made into wall hangings, wind chimes, garden stakes and other household items which welcomes family and guest.

More Cloud Shapes in the Sky.....Can You Guess?

I usually find puppies, cats, rabbits, birds, etc. which is the subject I like to photograph. Here are a few more I found recently for your humor. Can you pick any shapes out? Pink Beauty and the Beast

Today when I was out taking pictures in the Inland Empire, I found many lovely pink flowers.

Then look what I came across…the beast. We have lizards in our area but they are not harmful and keep the insects under control in our gardens. This guy was really large; approx 12" from head to tail.
