Last year the Department of Treasury introduced Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives, or HAFA, to assist troubled homeowners who have failed to qualify for Home Affordable Modification Program, or HAMP.
Freddie Mac loan servicers may already offer HAFA to eligible borrowers, but must do so by August 1st, 2010.
The following types of mortgages are eligible for HAFA:
