From Hide-A-Way Hills Club Office: DUE TO THE STATE WIDE BURNING BAN, WE WILL NOT ISSUE COOKING FIRE PERMITS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Are you also curious to why this latest ban on cooking fires in Hide-A-Way Hills? 1-The "state-wide burning ban" is not a NEW ban and has been in effect for years. During certain spring and summer months, "open burning" is and has been banned without a permit. Open burning is defined as "burning trash and debris". With the recent warm weather, but while the trees are still missing their foliage, visitors to the Hocking Hills often leave asking, "What are those purple bags hanging from the trees?" While they are still able to be seen once the leaves return, this time of year allows ample opportunity to spot a peculiar purple bag hanging from some of the trees through out the Hocking Hills.
