Good Friday - 03/31/10 10:31 PM
For many of us, Good Friday serves as a reminder that in our darkest hour, light is just around the corner. Can this be said of our real estate market today? I believe so. Prices falling, unemployment high, an all around uneasiness felt in our nation. Perhaps we need to remind ourselves that good times are just around the corner. Are we going to look back and wish we'd bought more investment properties while the opportunities were so good. Population is going to increase. People are going to need a place to stay. Real estate is not a piece of paper. … (3 comments)

Coming to Atlanta this weekend - POLLEN - 03/30/10 10:22 PM
That's right, warm weather the next few days and we're all going to need mask. It will be hard to find our cars at the mall because they'll all be the same color, sort of greenish yellow. But with that comes all the beauty of our area with the dogwoods, azaleas, fruit trees, etc. The blooms seem to be running a little late this year, which is probably good, that way a cold snap is less likely to nip the flowers. I hope everyone enjoys their Spring!

A Study of Blogging - 03/30/10 09:40 PM
OK so I'm pretty new at this and still trying to gain a better understanding of what exactly blogging is suppose to accomplish. As fate would have it, tonight my wife and I watched a movie called Julie and Julia (or it might be the other way around). Anyway, it is a story about Julia Childs in her younger years and the parallels with a modern day girl named Julie living in Queens. Julie decides to take Julia's famous book with French recipes, and spend one year preparing every recipe in the book, then blog about the experience each day. Over … (1 comments)

Back When I Got Started - 03/29/10 05:20 PM
My how times have changed. Technology & gadgets have made our lives much more convenient and productive these days, although I must admit, I do miss the personal contact a little.
Back when I got into the business:
1). There were no fax machines. When you wrote up a contract, you hand delivered it to the listing brokers office.
2). You needed plenty of carbon paper on hand. When writing up a contract you really had to press hard with your pen in order to get those additional copies you needed.
3). No cell phones. A pager was the height of … (2 comments)

Proper Grits - 03/27/10 08:23 PM
Being born and raised in the South has both advantages and disadvantages. I am certain that one of the blessings of being a Southerner is being able to incorporate grits into the breakfast meal. I am of the opinion that properly served grits should be served on a plate, not in a bowl. Properly prepared, one should be able to eat them with a fork as opposed to a spoon. Not too thick, mind you, but just thick enough to get from the plate to your mouth without dripping through your fork. One last thing. JMHO - if anyone wants a … (1 comments)

Allow me to Vent Please.... - 03/26/10 03:01 PM
Over the years I've heard various instructors, speakers, & pundits tell how Realtors should seek to increase their level of professionalism to that of a Doctor. After my last two Doctor visits, I'm not the least bit sure that is a level I wish to aspire to at all. I have never made an appointment with someone, then had them wait for 2 hours while I am doing other things. I could show a house and get a signed contract in less time. At this point I'm thinking Doctors could learn a little professionalism from Realtors. Please pardon the frustating vent, … (9 comments)
