Because Arizona has a large number of pools, the concern for children around pools is always heightened. Every summer needless numbers of children drown. Since 2001 the Phoenix Firefighters Association, SRP and Valley of the Sun United Way have come together to support a free Adopt-a-Pool-Fence Program. This program is offered as a way for safe pool fences to be installed for hundreds of Arizona Valley families who otherwise could not afford to buy a pool fence themselves. A bit casual and not terribly expensive, this interesting American French Bistro restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner every day except Monday. If you live in, or plan to be visiting Chandler Arizona you may want to check out the restaurant called Cork. The establishment has, yes, wine, but also is oriented to small plates. Named for the cork in wines, but also for it's own cork flood, the place is unique. The menu changes often and changes with the season. The house specialty is something called a deconstructed banana cream pie. another specialty is that a lot of the menu items are constructed around the sweet-salty premise. Over Easy is an interesting breakfast place located in an old Taco Bell stand in Phoenix Arizona. With limited seating and only open from 6:30am until 11:30am to serve breakfast, this place is an interesting find. They have everything from omelets to french toast, pancakes -- both the traditional varieties as well as unusual types such as Reeces' piece pancakes or chocolate waffles, or french toast with bananas and pecans. While they do offer chips and salsa, the cuisine is of a style that includes fresh tomatoes, olive oil, peppers with recipes more in the style of Mexico City and the Yucatan region.
