Just waitin' for the Fax - 09/29/06 09:36 PM
I'm here in the office on a Friday night waiting for the listing agent to fax me back the seller's response to my clients' offer. He said he'd fax it around 7-ish. Now, I could just be out doing my own thing waiting for his call, but in western Washington, communication … (11 comments)

Learning on the job - 09/24/06 05:14 PM
Avoid showing downtown condos during a Seahawks home game.  Seahawk Stadium (the name it had before Qwest bought the naming rights) is located just south of downtown's Pioneer Square district.  As a result, there's lots of traffic and nearly impossible to find a parking spot.
I admit, I'm not much of … (10 comments)

Virtually Seattle - 09/24/06 04:57 PM
I recently came across a site with fantastic virtual tours of Seattle including the Seattle Center, the Pike Place Market, Downtown, and the cemetery were Bruce Lee is buried.  Called VR Seattle, the site has over 1,000 tours throughout Seattle and nearly another 500 of other Washington locales.
This is a great … (2 comments)

Belltown Neighborhood - 09/23/06 06:19 PM
The Belltown neighborhood is generally considered part of downtown Seattle, though it's primarily a residential area just north of the downtown retail district.  Along Belltown's broad streets are an eclectic mix of people, businesses and art.  Not to mention the snazzy offices of John L. Scott Real Estate.
Belltown combines seedy … (1 comments)

Godaddy For Cheap - 09/23/06 05:26 PM
Rich's post about expiring web domains was a call to action for me.  After reading his post I decided to check my Godaddy account and it turns out two of my domains expire next week.  They are now renewed.
I use Godaddy for all my domains as they're pretty good at domain … (5 comments)

Showing instructions - 09/23/06 04:00 PM
I've come across many situations where there are special instructions to show and access a property.  Today, there was one that got me stumped.  It's a condominium on 1st Avenue near the Pike Place Market.  The agent's instructions in the MLS stated "enter bg on Post Alley (1st left thru stairwell … (7 comments)

Seattle Slowdown - 09/22/06 05:04 PM
There's been hints that Seattle's strong, seller centric, housing market is softening.  Inventory has been rising for several months, the absorbtion rate while still low has been increasing and homes have been sitting on the market longer.  Another sign, which I'm starting to see more frequently, or in this case hear, … (3 comments)

Is Seattle's Condo Boom Busting? - 09/22/06 11:49 AM
In recent years developers have been scrambling to remake the Seattle skyline with 40 new projects proposed, approved and/or under construction adding up to 10,000 condo units by 2010.  And, this doesn't even include Paul Allen's plans for the South Lake Union district.  But, is the infant condo boom already busting?  … (8 comments)

Well, maybe not.  But John Cook, a VC reporter for the Seattle PI Newspaper wrote in his blog about comments from people stating they didn't want to use Zillow's new features for fear the tax man (aka assessor) will commeth.  Turns out, those fears could come true.  Cook contacted the King … (2 comments)

One of the most widely used parks in Seattle is Green Lake Park, nestled in the middle of north Seattle.  The park is a magnet for numerous events, activities and people.   Surrounding the lake is a 2.8 mile path that is used by walkers, joggers, roller bladers, baby strollers and bikes.  … (2 comments)

Print Command Short Cut - 09/19/06 05:39 PM
The Northwest MLS, serving Western Washington, revamped their website this year.  But, it has some bugs still.   On some of the pages, it'll open up a new browser window, such as the map feature, but it does not provide any buttons or menu options.   So, you can view the map … (0 comments)

It's Fallin' - 09/18/06 05:46 PM
We Northwesterners generally have a shorter Summer than most other parts of the US.  The warm and sunny weather is precious to us because we generally don't get to experience for 6-9 months out of the year.  And, well, it seems its pretty much over.
Today, I was driving around … (2 comments)

Washington's Stealth Race - 09/14/06 10:27 AM
While all the fanfare have focused on Michigan, particularly the race between Sara and Joshua, things are getting pretty interesting in the Evergreen State.  Though much subdued, there's a tight race at the top with less than 10,000 points separating the top four.
Mark's number 1 position is ripe for the … (4 comments)

Only in Seattle - dairy thefts - 09/12/06 04:26 PM
I just thought this was amusing (has nothing to do with real estate).  It seems some creative people are getting their coffee fix on the cheap.   From the Seattle Times -
If someone pays $2 for espresso, then fills half the cup with milk at the condiment bar, is that stealing? … (1 comments)

A sign of a slowing market - Nordstrom - 09/12/06 03:07 PM
Seattle's slowing, showing signs of softening (how's that for an alliteration).  We've heard reports that open houses are not drawing visitors and properties, especially condos, are sitting on the market a little longer.  To entice Realtors, many slow selling condo projects are re-hosting broker events with catered lunch and Nordstrom gift … (1 comments)

America's Smartest City? - 09/01/06 01:22 AM
Seattle.  At least according to new CNNMoney.com study which ranked Seattle #1 as the smartest city based on education - 52.7% of the population over 25 have a bachelor's degree or higher.  Apparently, we're the most literate, too.   A little tidbit from the article:
Many brainy people have flocked to … (2 comments)
