I was doing an open house a couple of weeks ago in the South East Calgary community of McKenzie Lake...  
It was such a beautiful day for January, it reminded me of the bike rides we often take from Fish Creek Provincial Park along the Bow River up to the ridge in Lake McKenzie. The switchbacks up the hill provide a quick little challenge for any cyclist, but the reward at the top is definitely worth it.  In my opinion, there just isn't a better view in Calgary than the one from the ridge that runs along McKenzie Lake and Douglasdale … (6 comments)

After an unusually mild November, winter has literally taken us by storm here in Calgary Alberta.  For most, it has meant shoveling driveways, and shifting into 4X4 just to get through snowy residential streets on your way to work.  But for those fortunate enough to live in one of Calgary's great Lake Communities, it means that finally the lake has started to freeze and it's time to fire up the Zamboni!  Hockey on the lake... it doesn't get any more Canadian than that!

Ok, I'm not naming names here, or addresses for that matter... but there IS one house three doors down from mine that has carpet impersonating their lawn.  I'm talking the really plush carpet that make your feet feel like they're in heaven when they sink into it.  It has the look of being freshly vacuumed, complete with perfectly beveled edges.   I mean, there is not a single blade of grass that would even dare lean over the edge of the sidewalk to soil the perfectly geometrical image of this corner lot.  And what makes it all even more mysterious...
