Oh my aching back.  Is that a phrase you have said out loud or at least said to yourself?

For me I have done both over the years.  I have gone to a doctor for pain medication, and yes I have even been to a chiropractor when my back was so bad I could barely walk.

I have been told that lower back pain can result from lifting something the wrong way to the daily stress in one's life. 

 We have all been told that we should lift by bending our knees.  The other rule of thumb is if it looks to heavy for you to lift go get some help.  With that said I believe the major part of lower back pain is due to the way we live our lives and every day stress we encounter.  So hear are some ideas for you to consider.  

  1. Read something good each day for 30 minutes.  Now for some of you I am sure that 30 minutes seems like a short amount of time.  For others who are not readers 30 minutes may be an eternity.  I am not a reader so I will admit that 30 minutes each day can be a bit of a struggle.
  2. Do something nice for someone or make them smile.  It could be a joke you just heard, call someone you have not spoken to in a while, or just open the door for someone.
  3. Take a nap.  For me I am guilty, guilty, guilty.  They say that our  lunch break should include a 20 minutes of just closing our eyes and taking a nap.  These 20 minutes allows us to refresh ourselves for the rest of our work day.
  4. Get up 15 minutes early in the morning and do some exercising or stretching.  For me this was the hardest, but has paid off in big dividends.  I feel better and am more alert to start my day.  I would be glad to email you the exercises I have been using each day.  Not only when I get up in the morning, but I repeat them about an hour before I go to bed.

Today I received an email from Cecelia Jacobs of First Federal of Lakewood..  Despite what we have been hearing in the media Toledo Joins the List of Improving Housing Markets in December.  We at Key Realty have been seeing a upturn in the market.  Interest rate are still low. and this email from Cecelia shows that the market is starting to turn around and now is a great time to either list your house, or buy your next new home.

WASHINGTON, Dec. 6 – The number of improving housing markets continued to expand for a fourth consecutive month in December, rising from 30 to 41 on the latest National Association of Home Builders/First American Improving Markets Index (IMI), released today. The December list featured 20 new additions, including several major markets such as Washington, D.C.; San Jose, Calif.; and Toledo, Ohio. Meanwhile, nine smaller markets dropped off the list, primarily due to softer house prices.

 
The index identifies metropolitan areas that have shown improvement from their respective troughs in housing permits, employment and house prices for at least six consecutive months. 

The increases we continue to see in the number and geographic diversity of improving metros are quite encouraging, and evidence of the fact that all housing markets are dependent on uniquely local factors,” said NAHB Chairman Bob Nielsen, a home builder from Reno, Nev. He noted that as of December, a total of 21 states and the District of Columbia are represented on the improving markets list -- up from14 states represented in November.

“The December IMI results are very much in keeping with the latest government housing data and our own builder surveys, which have shown modest signs of improvement in certain individual markets where employment is gaining and distressed properties are not as numerous,” said NAHB Chief Economist David Crowe. “These gradual improvements are now becoming evident not just in small, energy-producing metros that have previously dominated the IMI, but also in several larger markets and areas with more diverse economies.”

The IMI is designed to track housing markets throughout the country that are showing signs of improving economic health. The index measures three sets of independent monthly data to get a mark on the top improving Metropolitan Statistical Areas. The three indicators that are analyzed are employment growth from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, house price appreciation from Freddie Mac, and single-family housing permit growth from the U.S. Census Bureau. NAHB uses the latest available data from these sources to generate a list of improving markets. A metro area must see improvement in all three areas for at least six months following their respective troughs before being included on the improving markets list.

Whenever something needs to be fixed around my home I typically need to call someone. 

After a couple of weeks of noticing the drain in my shower was running slow, I decided to see if I could take care of the problem.  As you all know Google is a wonderful thing.

So I decided to search how I could get my shower drain to work properly and not use any harsh chemicals.

 

Below are steps I did to correct my problem and the drain is functioning like it was brand new.

Remove the drain cover being careful not to drop the screws down the drain.

  1. 2. Use a coat hanger to remove the heavy “gunk” from the drain.
  2. Use a plunger to dislodge any “gunk” you had missed.
  3. Have a heavy rag handy.
  4. Take ½ cup of Baking Soda and pour it down the drain.
  5. Take ½ cup of white vinegar and put that down the drain
  6. Take your rag and stop up the whole so the mixture of baking soda and white vinegar does not flow back into the shower.
  7. Wait one hour.
  8. Flush the drain with boiling water.
  9. Put the drain cover back on.
  10. Congratulations!!!!!! You did it.
