While home sales keep slumping nationwide, the Asheville real estate market keeps creating homes that can save money for homeowners and are environmentally friendly. The 100th N.C. HealthyBuilt home in Western North Carolina was recently completed in Black Mountain. Homes earn the certification by fulfilling a long checklist of details that include raising energy efficiency and using recycled materials while cutting down on waste and damage to the environment.. I considered a number of topics to write about for this contest but finally decided to take a look at the history of the Green/ Environmental Movement and found some interesting historical facts and figures. So here we go on a journey down the Green Memory Lane .... healthy built homes: Green Home Appraisals – Do They Exist? - 01/15/07 05:29 PM
I have recently sold an Asheville home to a couple who currently live in a Healthy Built Green home in Florida. Their dilemma is now finding an accurate appraisal for this 3 year old home that sits on 9 acres approximately 15 miles east of Ft. Myers, Florida. The initial appraiser came up with a figure of $875,000 based on traditional comps for the area. She honestly pointed out though that there were no comps coming close to matching any of the green features of the home and really had no idea of how that could be accomplished. So does anyone out
