find austin realtors: When looking for a local real estate agent how do you choose one to help you find the perfect Austin home? - 11/29/09 09:37 AM
People find real estate agents in a number of ways. Ask friends or family if they liked their Realtor or Broker that helped them buy their home. You can also look online, thumb through the yellow pages, scan the neighborhood newsletter to see who advertises in the newsletter, or just walk into a local real estate office. Unless your getting a personal referral from friends or family it can be a toss up as to the kind of service you receive. Big real estate companies often hire hundreds of agents and each gives different levels of service. Some are better than … (5 comments)

find austin realtors: The First time home buyers $8000 Tax Credit deadline may be extended! - 10/29/09 04:21 PM
My contacts at Gracy Title of South Austin just shared some great news. Granted this is something we have thought was in the works, but the powers that be had not announced anything until now. The program may be extended as it is today or it may have some modifications, that is yet to be decided. So if your unsure about waiting, the time to buy a home is now. In order to qualify for the tax credit you must: make no more than $75K a year, be a first time home buyer (if you have not owned a home in three … (3 comments)

find austin realtors: Austin Texas is set to recover from the recession before most of the country! - 09/15/09 04:37 PM
People always ask me how Austin's economy is doing. My answer is while the rest of the country is not faring so well, we seem to be doing fine. Historically Texas is the last state into a recession and the first one to come out of it. Now I have some more solid information to back this up. Recently the Austin Business Journalreported that according to IHS Global Insight of Lexington Massachusetts Austin is poised to be one of the first cities out of the slump.
"Austin and San Antonio will be the first two U.S. cities to recover from the … (7 comments)

find austin realtors: Austin City Limits Festival (ACL) tickets sell out in record time this summer! - 08/20/09 10:28 AM
Living in Austin means you get front row seats to many music events. OK maybe not front row seats, but you get first crack at tickets to our local music events. For example Austin City Limits Festival is a very popular attraction that has attendees and bands from all over the world. This year tickets were sold out in record time.  Apparently this years music line up created such demand for tickets, they sold out faster than the last eight years. I am guessing scalpers will be selling some on CraigsList and EBay at inflated prices. The popularity of ACL is … (2 comments)

find austin realtors: Chili cook-offs in Texas are a fun way to beat the heat with friends - 08/10/09 09:48 AM
The Hardeman's House of Hellfire Chili Cook-Off is rockin the house and raising money for the Blue Dog Rescue!
Allow me to start at the beginning. It all started at a campsite in a park far, far away on the Frio River. There were campers grilling dinner after a long day on the cool river. One of these campers had a huge steak marinated in some special sauce and it was sizzling away on the fire. There were several campers that brought their dogs to this weekend of outdoor fun and games. Apparently one of the dogs snatched this steak and … (10 comments)

find austin realtors: Trail Bandits are destroying Barton Creek Greenbelt! - 08/09/09 11:16 AM
Barton Creek Greenbelt was created many years ago to provide Austinites with a multitude of trails to walk, hike and bike around Austin. Since the beginning there have been a few people cutting out rogue trails in the park at the southwest corner of HWY360 and South MOPAC. Right now there are about 65 miles of trails and about 63% of them are not legal or not created by the parks department. The Austin Parks and Recreation Department maintains all of the authorized trails in the Austin parks.
For many years they have tried to protect the unauthorized trails from use by roping off … (4 comments)

As many of you know central Texas has been in a drought for a few years now. The grass is brown and the trees are stressed and some are even dying. Today I woke up to the sound of thunder. I swear I had almost forgotten what it sounds like! So I came out on the back porch with my coffee to enjoy the wave of cool air that this thunderstorm brought. My back porch was a blissful 74 degrees!! For the last week our temperatures have been ranging from 90-108 everyday.
We have not had any appreciable rain in well over two … (5 comments)
