Are you looking for some summer fun in Austin Texas? If so I have the answers and a few of them allow you to beat the brutal Texas summer heat. These events all take place in central or south Austin. Some events are free while others have varying admission fees. Perhaps I will see you at some of these events? I plan to go see Bob Schneider as he gives a great "live" performance!

As a long time Austinite I am familiar with whats going on around town. I thought I would share some of that expertise with you. January is typically cold and a little rainy so indoor activities may be more fun. Now is the perfect time to take advantage of "Free Week" and many other events in and around Austin!
Free Week is from Jan 2-9 and it is Free admission to multiple clubs that have live music!

Austin holds Bat Fest every year to celebrate some of our tiniest residents. To be fair they are really residents living under the Congress Avenue Bridge. The Congress Avenue bridge was recently renamed the Ann Richards Bridge after our most exciting woman Governor of Texas. The 2009 event will be the fifth such festival in Austin. There will be a variety of food, drinks, hand made art and best of all plenty of live music! Austin is known as the live music capital of the universe, come see why we have this nick name!

The Americana Music Association has recognized Terry Lickona the longtime producer of Austin City Limits which is produced by KLRU. The Award is called the Lifetime Acheivement Award and was presented by the AMA. Terry received a standing ovation when he accepted the award last Thursday. Terry has successfully promoted this show and cemented its status as Nashville's maverick cousin. For the last thirty years Terry has produced this amazing venue to showcase worthy musicians. Some of the past performers are: Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams, Joe Ely, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen, Patti Griffen, The Mavericks and Los Lonely Boys.

Hey music lovers, ACL is coming soon to Zilker Park. This years event will be held on September 26, 27, 28, 2008. It is sponsored by: KUT, KLRU, KGSR, 101X, AMD, HEB, Dell, Sweet Leaf Tea, Austin Ventures, and News 8 Austin just to name a few.
