realtoraustin: Senna Hills neighborhood in Bee Cave, market statistics and history - 07/28/09 03:18 PM
Senna Hills is a little neighborhood between Austin and Bee Cave. Bee Cavewas originally started back in 1850's when Deitrich Bohls moved from the hustle and bustle of Austin. Many of his descendants still live in and own homes and land in and around Austin. During the building boom of the 1980's the residents were concerned that they would get annexed. So they formed a group called "The Concerned Citizens and Land Owners Organization. Then they went to the state capital and stated their cause, thus Bee Cave was incorporated. This area has continued to be popular with both families and retired

realtoraustin: SXSW Austin is still the Live Music Capital of the world and this is one of the reasons why. - 03/21/09 01:32 PM
This year South by Southwest has a stellar line up of bands. In fact there is no way to see everybody you want to see each year. There are simply too many locations and too many bands. The bands come from all over the world for this event. There are even pop-up events in peoples homes. A friend of mine had such an event at their home in the Zilker neighborhood. His original band hales from LA and is called Buddi Brown, while they did not play, his new band did. The new band played a set at 3:30 yesterday and there were

realtoraustin: One of the reasons lowball offers in Texas's large metro areas won't fly. - 01/06/09 06:02 PM
In the last year I have had more Relocation clients come to Austin to buy a reasonably priced home. They often come in with the idea that if its listed at $400K they can offer $300K or less because the national market is depressed. I try to help educate the newcomers that Austin is not Detroit and your not getting a birds-nest on the ground for a song. In fact with a seriously lowball offer you risk offending the Seller. Big deal, so you offend him, so what?!? So he may raise the price on you! I have seen it happen

realtoraustin: Austin is earning the title "The Emerald City" one house at a time. - 11/12/08 10:11 PM
Details of the proposed Austin Energy AuditIn an attempt to rename Austin the "Emerald City" because of our clean and green lifestyle recently Mayor Will Wynn proposed a new law. This law would force all home sellers to make "necessary repairs to correct energy inadequacies" to make their homes more energy efficient. The proposal was pretty controversial and many people had signs in their yards "Motivate don't Mandate!". We would rather see people rewarded for good behavior, than punished for not having the money to make the newly required improvements. This proposal might have even prevented some homeowners from selling their homes, as

realtoraustin: More reasons to move to Austin TX - 09/29/08 03:59 PM
While surfing the web today, I found several web sites that give great reasons to move to Austin. In a nutshell the reasons are: plentiful jobs, excellent quality of life, affordable housing, upwardly mobile young professionals, fitness, wireless & high tech lifestyle, young entrepreneurs, many many start-up companies. For the last several years Austin has consistently landed in the Top Ten Cities to live in according to a variety of sources: Forbes, Men's Health, The Business Journal. Austin is considered a great place for: families, single people, senior citizens, and same sex couples. See the links listed below for details. realtoraustin: Things to know before you buy a property with a Septic System - 07/23/08 01:24 PM
Some people find it odd in this day and age to have homes that rely on septic systems for wastewater removal. However a septic system is really the only way to be fully responsible for your own waste-water and water usage. Instead of paying someone else (the water utility) to remove the waste-water and process and store it, you are doing it all yourself. It sounds like a big job, but its really not. If you can remember a few key points it is very easy. 1. The average life of a septic system is 25-35 years. However I have seen a

realtoraustin: Water Conservation Tips - 07/17/08 04:20 PM
During our normal hot Texas summers, we all need to do our part to conserve water. Clean water is a precious commodity that many people take for granted. Here are a few things we can all do to save a little water. Some are logical some sound kind of silly, but each of them save water. 1 Create a rainwater collection system in your yard. You can get rain-barrels from the City of Austin. Use this water to water your lawn. 2. Always water your lawn/landscape between 9:00pm-9:00am. This reduces the amount of evaporation, which means you can water less often
