The Shady Hollow Home Owners Association has announced there have been reports of a few unwanted visitors in our south Austin neighborhood. Apparently this extreme drought is causing the area wildlife to look harder for water sources and food sources. So a few home-owners with doggie doors have found uninvited "guests" in their homes. A few people have found raccoons and possums creeping inside their homes through doggie doors to get food and water. Recently I had a visit with John Roop the Shady Hollow Home Owners Association Manager. I went for a quick visit as I had questions about the new water main covers installed on my street. I noticed the shiny covers had "City of Austin" stamped on them. I am a mile and a half south of the Austin City Limits, so I was concerned. The old cover was just a plain slab of metal. So I got nervous that maybe Austin was taking over the Shady Hollow M.U.D. in preparation to annex Shady Hollow.

It seems most people in Austin have only been here a short time. I have been here over twenty years and therefore I personally remember some of our local history. I live very close to the Circle C Neighborhood and I remember when it was in the headlines just about every week. Cirle C is located just west of South MOPAC and south of Slaughter Lane and east of 1826. The neighborhood is comprised of single family homes, which are primarily constructed of native stone or brick.
