You don't have to look long to find a story about technological disruption; I think the term is overused and the true definition is misinterpreted in many cases.
Criagslist is a pretty cool service - most people agree it's disruptive - it qualifies as a disruptive technology for these reasons.

Because *any* VoIP service can be configured on-the-fly - Skype just happens to be the best available and largely free.
Consider how important context is to everything you do. If you're in a deli having a business meeting and you recieve a 2 gigabyte PDF file on your PDA, it's not going to be very helpful - you can't read it, and if you could, the form-factor of your device is inappropriate for the "context".

Some time ago I made a few references to emerging terminology and even defended a reference to Real Estate 2.0. Today I happened to see this rather dated article (June 2006) - Web 2.0 Has Corporate America Spinning. My favorite quote from the article --
"If these Web 2.0 folks weren't so geeky, they might call it the Live Web."
It's a good observation - as technical people figure out how to adopt these new ideas, they rarely try to change the terminology - they just ride it and of course, you know ... no one has clue what they're saying. But it doesn't … (6 comments)
