seo: Thorough Indexing Performance - The Debate Continues... - 08/07/08 08:17 PM
Someone over at Kinetic Knowledge (who apparently doesn't want to be identified) published this justification for not having a thorough and dominant index of content in search engines. If you base your service on technology that is unable to create and sustain a deep and thorough of everything published, this is … (5 comments)

seo: ClickTrack Claims Business Blog Visitor's 22% More Likely To Engage - 10/21/06 04:01 PM
What impact does your blog have on your business web site?
This was a question recently addressed by a company with some degree of bias, but seems to have done a good job of analyzing the data for at least one of their clients. I don't think they have an axe to grind … (3 comments)

seo: Rankings Up, Traffic Down? Search Users are Getting Smarter - 10/20/06 09:57 AM
A real estate agent recently mentioned to me that even though he's still in the top of Google for common terms about his local real estate market, his traffic is down significantly. What would explain this? How could this be possible? All indications are that his market (a southwest US city) is growing … (28 comments)

seo: Targeting Popular Search Terms - Bad Idea? Perhaps... - 10/13/06 10:54 AM
I continually meet folks that assume popular search terms are the holy grail of web marketing success; they couldn't be more wrong. It's possible that in the history of mankind there's no other subject that more people are wrong about at the same time. ;-) [tongue-in-cheek of course]
While it's smart to look at popular [historical] … (20 comments)

There's a sign on your building that broadcasts your business name and company logo - is it intended only to generate more leads? There's a business card in … (3 comments)

seo: Suddenly Dropped From Google - 10/09/06 10:20 PM
I recently saw this message come through the WebProWorld forum... it cracked my up.
"From what I've been reading, this recent Google page rank update/data push from last weekend hasn't really effected many websites. For us, we saw a huge drop in traffic (about 60%) and the same drop in revenues. It's especially troubling … (4 comments)

seo: Search Engine Marketing: Be Careful of Your Own Data - 09/23/06 02:02 PM
I love data - it helps us understand how consumers behave. I've also made many references to Freakonomics - can 't stress the underlying issue of correlation versus causal variables. Here's a scenario that makes me laugh because people get it wrong so often and the bias is so obvious.
The setting for this … (8 comments)

seo: The Potential Disadvantages of Using Technorati Tags in Your Blog - 07/30/06 01:47 PM
If you haven't had a chance to read Jason's AR blog (and other content), do so - lots of great tips - the guy is sharp.
In a recent post, Jason explores the use of Technorati and how to integrate it with your ActiveRain blog through a "claiming" process. I'm indifferent about Technorati … (10 comments)
