Denver home buyers as well as the Realtors who would love to represent you are delighted that the $8,000 homebuyer's tax credit has both been extended until April 30, 2010 PLUS has been expanded to include repeat buyers. Current homeowners can qualify for up to $6,500. The maximum home value is $800,000.

If you scan the real estate headlines about the Denver housing market, it's confusing enough to make you want to stay glued to ESPN. You hear it's a buyer's market. The clues are that prices have been dropping and there are plenty of homes to choose from. After all, the lower the prices, the better deal you'll get. But we're now seeing prices start to firm up, especially in the lower priced entry level segment. We're even seeing multiple offers on many of these homes. The word is out - now is the time to buy if at all possible.

When asked when they expect to see housing market conditions improve in their local communities, 42% of consumers responding to HouseHunt's latest national survey believe it will happen by next summer, possibly sooner.
The question: "Housing industry experts agree that home sales prices are firming in many parts of the country, the inventory of unsold homes is slowly declining, and that mortgage lenders are willing to lend to qualified buyers. When do you expect conditions to improve in your local market?"

The recently passed Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 has created a tax credit helping first time homebuyers in Denver. The tax credit is applied to a qualified purchase of a primary residence from April 9, 2008 through June 30, 2009. The amount of the credit is 10 percent of the home's purchase price, and is not to exceed a maximum of $7500. The tax credit is to be paid back within 15 years, effectively making this an interest-free loan from the US government.
