August isn't even here yet. I wrote about periodic traffic behavior a few days ago and used August Horoscopes as an example. Since then, the traffic has continued to grow wildly. If you take a look down below you can compare the traffic graph from that day to the one from today and see that this monthly pattern is growing each month and now that it has been recognized, it can be planned for. Watch for seasonal patterns in your business and add them to your long term calendar so you can plan for them a month of two in advance.

Is anybody interested in the August 2008 Horoscopes? This has been incredibly popular for the last couple of days on East Valley Living

Even if you don't care at all about Horoscopes, Astrology or the Zodiac, you should still pay attention to this post because of the implications that "periodic phenomenon" have on what you do care about, the real estate, mortgage and title businesses that you are running and working in.

It appears that near the beginning of the month, the people who are looking for their horoscope for the next month begin to search. 2008 August Horoscopes are up in the Astrology section at the Phoenix Arizona News Site

Chandler, AZ — With temperatures over 100 degrees everyday it’s natural for us to carry water bottles. But what about the people who cannot buy water for themselves? Regardless of how they got into this position, many people are homeless and need assistance, especially during these hot summer months.

The Salvation Army in Phoenix has created Hydration Stations to serve the area’s homeless population and ensure their access to cold water as the valley gets deeper into the summer months.

Nobody had done that since my Albert died some 30 years ago.
DA: What happened next?
LoL: He began to rub my breasts.
DA: Did you stop him then?
LoL: No, I did not stop him.
DA: Why not?
LoL: His rubbing made me feel all alive and excited. I haven’t felt that good in years!

DA: What happened next?
LoL: Well, by then, I was feeling so “spicy” that I just lay down and told him “Take me, young man. Take me now!”
DA: Did he take you?
LoL: No! He just yelled, “April Fool!” And that’s when I shot him.

I heard on the radio on 550 KFYI in Phoenix Arizona that there is a spreading phenomenon, at least in the greater Phoenix Arizona area. According to a caller to the JD Hayworth Show, there are many people who feel they can’t vote for anyone but John McCain because they have been left with no choice

Many of these people do not agree with McCain’s positions on various things but feel that the alternative is far worse.

To show that they are voting for McCain but are doing so under protest, these people are putting John McCain bumper stickers on their cars upside down and putting yard signs in their yard upside down.

It appears to be spreading as people stop and ask - “Do you know that your bumper sticker (or yard sign) is upside down? ” and are told why. Some people even put a note on their yard sign to explain it to anyone who stops by to be helpful and turn the sign around.

The lenders need to wake up.

Typical lenders have no idea what they have to do and how quickly they have to do it in order to keep people in their homes. They are not giving people options. We hear all the time about people who are told "We can't even talk to you about your 50% payment increase unless you are behind on your payments.

Foreclosure counselors are still having trouble getting lenders to agree to anything reasonable.

I believe that in 2007 in Arizona, there were about 70,000 foreclosures.

In 2008 that number is expected to jump much higher.

Foreclosure counselors expect to only be able to save about 4000 homes from foreclosure in Arizona.

Blog Marketing - Marketing Your Blog

Blog marketing is a generic term that may be used to describe the process of Internet marketing using weblogs or might be used to describe the marketing of the blogs themselves to get higher search engine rankings.

Blogs are really a type of website that typically features daily or weekly posts or articles, sometimes grouped into related topics but not always. Some potential clients fear blogs and believe that they are complicated and difficult to manage. We like to say - “Have no fear - It’s just another content management system.”

Companies may use blogs to create a conversation with their clients and customers to explain features of their products and services. Marketing companies might use blog marketing to promote a client website or to provide an easy way for customers to keep up to date on new product and service introductions, breaking news and changes in strategy.

Marketing of blogs themselves might be done in order to improve the ability of people searching for the specific topic area that the blog covers to find that particular blog using the common search engines or the special blog search engines.

Blog Marketing methods and techniques vary depending on the platform, the setup and configuration, the purpose and goals of the organization running the blog and how much time, money and effort they want to put into marketing the blog.

If you would like to discuss marketing of your blog or Internet marketing using blogs as a part of the marketing strategy, please give us a call at (480) 998-0246 or send an email with a summary of your requirements.

Wordpress.com Versus Wordpress.org

There is a lot of talk out in real estate blog land about setting up wordpress blogs. Many of the sage advice givers recommend that real estate agents set up a blog on Wordpress.com because it is simple, it is free and it is maintained and hosted by someone else.

Those are precisely the reasons that you should never use wordpress.com for a business blog of any kind. There really is no such thing as a free lunch. Wordpress.com is the free, hosted version of the wordpress multi user software. Because it is free, the terms of service are quite restrictive.

You might do the simplest, most natural things on your blog and wake up one morning to find the dreaded notice "THIS BLOG HAS BEEN DELETED OR ARCHIVED FOR VIOLATING THE TERMS OF SERVICE" Advertising on a wordpress.com blog can get your blog deleted. Linking to your real estate sales site might get it deleted. Posting listings from your office or for your clients might get your wordpress.com blog deleted.

When that happens, whatever amount of work you have put into that blog simply vanishes, never to return.

All the pages are gone, all the posts are gone, all the links are gone, all the trust and authority you have built up is gone. It is simply not worth the risk.

If you want to set up a wordpress blog, go to wordpress.org and download the software and set it up on your server, configure it, upload a theme you like and modify that to meet your look and feel requirements, load all the plugins, back up the entire system and then get started blogging.

If your web hosting company is set up for wordpress hosting then it might be much simpler. The download and install might be enabled with a few clicks of the mouse, typing the name of your blog and you are up and running in minutes.

An even simpler, process for busy people with a budget is to hire a blog marketing company to set it up for you. If that is not in your budget then you will want to attend the next Arizona Real Estate Bloggers Network meeting and learn all about doing it yourself.

Thank you,

I had no idea. When I went to look up the code to embed the Scottsdale Job Network (SJN) video from jobing.com here in a blog post, I saw that there were actually now three videos about SJN. They have done a great job of capturing the essence of what we do for the community and for job seekers.

SJN INFO
Scottsdale Job Network is a great resource for anyone looking to improve their leverage as a job seeker. "Phoenix is the absolute largest small town in America"

The Spirit of the SJN
Are you "in job transistion?" Get to know the Scottsdale Job Network!

There is actually a fourth video that is much longer than these. That one was on the loop that showed at the Tempe Town Lake Fireworks Show on the Fourth of July.

The other day I posted the video that Jobing.com produced for East Valley Living as part of their community partners program agreement with us. Scottsdale Job Network or SJN is another community service organization I am involved with that has a partnership agreement with Jobing.com. SJN is a non-profit community group of business leaders and volunteers. We provide education in the job search process and all attendees have the opportunity to meet and work with people who offer support and guidance during employment transition.

SJN is not a job placement forum. We do not match candidates to openings nor do we send resumes to employers or recruiters. There is no guarantee of employment either directly through this group or as a result of association with SJN.

A series of mini-workshops will be offered as part of the SJN bi-monthly networking meetings starting on September 2, 2008 with Understanding the Emotions of a Career Change and ending on December 2, 2008 with Managing Job Offers. SJN meetings are held at Temple Chai in Phoenix, 9-11:30 AM. Each presentation runs 70-90 minutes.

Job seekers can start at the beginning of the Curriculum and work their way through the entire process or come to programs of particular interest.

The programs will be facilitated by experts in the training and career transition fields. At SJN, we do not require membership dues or meeting fees. However, participants are asked to make a donation to the extent they are able to help cover our program’s operating costs.

Here is the video produced by jobing.com for the Scottsdale Job Network

I was looking at the Phoenix Real Estate site this morning and I noticed this article about Real Estate Consumers Spending more time on major real estate sites. It led me to think about whether that is a good thing or a bad thing.

Basically, Realtor.com and Move.com announced that during May 2008, consumers continued to increase time spent searching real estate on the Move Network, including Realtor.com. The homes-for sale web site announced that recent year-over-year data from comScore indicated that minutes spent per unique user in May 2008 grew by six percent on REALTOR.com and by three percent on the Move Network as compared to May 2007. This was the fifth consecutive month of positive growth in user stickiness (engagement) as consumers remain on the sites longer researching real estate data. When compared to all other real estate web sites, comScore also reports consumers spent 141 percent more time on Realtor.com, for a total of 170 percent more time on the Move Network this past May.

As the major sites get more and more traffic, and sell those visitors to the highest bidder, does that tend to eliminate competition and make it impossiible for new people to enter the market?
