GOOD GRIEF!  THIS IS A NOW A BARGAIN!
Super big living areas -- 3 all told -- plus the dining room and adjacent pantry with wet bar, really do make this home exceptional.  Of course the easy flow of the rooms and the open access to the big deck with the grounds overlooking a heavily wooded stream, really make this the perfect home for active family living and entertaining, whether it's just a few close friends or a big open house full of guests.

PRESIDENT OBAMA? MEET YOUR POSTAL SERVICE - 07/22/09 04:10 PM
Tonight President Obama plans to make another pitch to Americans to encourage their congressional representatives to support his health care package.
At noon today, I went to a very busy post office station near the corner of Lovers Lane and Greenville here in Dallas.  When I walked in, there were two clerks manning the counter.  Four spaces were closed.
There were six people in front of me in line.  Two were taken next, then one of the clerks closed her window.  That left one clerk waiting on people.  By then at least ten more people had accumulated behind me.
So you … (5 comments)

7192 WALLING, MERRIMAN PARK NEIGHBORHOOD, DALLAS - 07/20/09 09:26 AM

7142 WALLING
Merriman Park
MLS 11242104
$295,000
This is a wonderful new listing, really.  What makes it so swell, as far as I'm concerned, are the three generous and connected living areas.  As you enter, to the rear of the foyer are two big great rooms, each with its own big fireplace.  And then that opens up to the pretty deck and backyard that is ajacent to a meandering stream  Oh, let me add that there is a connecting formal living and formal dining room.  Swell kitchen with Jenn-Air range with convection oven and grill.
3 Bedrooms; 2 Baths; 2 … (3 comments)

PUNS - THE LATEST RATION FROM COACH SHEIBEL - 07/08/09 07:29 AM
1.  A vulture boards an airplane, carrying two dead raccoons.  The stewardess looks at him and says, 'I'm sorry, sir, only one carrion allowed per passenger.'2.  Two fish swim into a concrete wall.  One turns to the other and says 'Dam!'3.  Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly, so they lit a fire in the craft.  Unsurprisingly it sank, proving once again that you can't have your kayak and heat it too.4.  Two hydrogen atoms meet.  One says, 'I've lost my electron.' The other says 'Are you sure?' The first replies, 'Yes, I'm positive.'5.  Did you hear about the Buddhist … (7 comments)

WHO'S REALLY LOOKING AFTER THE ELDERLY, ANYWAY? - 07/06/09 03:03 PM
On purpose I remain close to many friends, a good portion dating back as far as elementary school days.  And since I started kindergarten in September 1945, many of those friendships are over 60 years old.
As time has passed many of their parents have either died or are in their 80s and 90s and are now living somewhat challenged lives.  When I hear about moms and dads, I think about the later years that my own mother and daddy went through, and especially the extra daily attention Patty and I gave my mom for the last ten years of her … (5 comments)

Three Rights Make a Left -- Michael Gartner, NBC News - 07/02/09 01:52 PM
This is a wonderful piece by Michael Gartner, editor of newspapers large and small and president of NBC News. In 1997, he won the Pulitzer Prize for editorial writing.  It was sent to me by Joe Mirsky, Assistant US District Attorney, Appallet Division, Houston.
THREE RIGHTS MAKE A LEFT
My father never drove a car. Well, that's not quite right. I shouldsay I never saw him drive a car. He quit driving in 1927, when he was 25years old, and the last car he drove was a 1926 Whippet.'In those days,' he told me when he was in his 90s, 'to … (5 comments)

"GALVESTON" & "THIS DAY IS MINE" -- GLEN CAMPBELL - 07/02/09 08:22 AM
There's Got to Be More to His "Galveston" Than That Glen Campbell Sings It
By Bill Cherry
If you know singer Glen Campbell's real relationship with the island, you can't help but wonder if there isn't more to the story than that a songwriter named Jimmy Webb wrote these words and tune, and that Glen sang them:
Galveston, oh Galveston.  I still hear your sea winds blowin'
I still see her dark eyes glowin'
She was 21 when I left Galveston.
and the last verse
Galveston, oh Galveston.  I am so afraid of dying
                                    Before … (2 comments)
