home depot: WE'RE GONNA HAVE NEW RULES AROUND HERE! - 04/09/11 09:51 AM

I've been annoyed by this for years, but I've never put my foot down.
This time I am. Things are going to be different around here.
So here's my diatribe.
I'm tired of manufacturers who segregate their products in such a way that the public has no way to comparison shop. Maytag refrigerators sold by Lowes have model numbers that are not carried by other retailers, for an example.
And my favorite: Carpet and other flooring material that are sold by decorators and specialty shops that, although products of Mohawk, Shaws, and other mainstream manufacturers, cannot be bought at the corner carpet shop.

home depot: No Credit at The Big Box - 11/17/08 12:49 PM

If you were to go into either the Home Depot or Lowes where I regularly shop, you would probably find no more than one cash wrap desk open, and as we say in Texas, you could shoot a cannon in any direction without the worry of injuring a customer.
These are huge stores in affluent neighborhoods where there are almost always the bustle of customers.
So this must be the dreaded evidence that business there is way off...when not even many contractors are there picking up supplies for their jobs...probably because there are no jobs.

I admit that for the major portion of my life I was overly interested in technology, especially electronics, and ESPECIALLY, especially anything having to do with broadcasting, whether receiving or sending.
And I've always been handy with tools, primarily because I like doing that kind of stuff. I think I got that from my mother's daddy who was quite a craftsman.
But in recent years, say the past ten, I've let the new innovations get away from me. For an example, I have no need for an I-Pod. I probably have nearly 1,000 CDs of the music I love, and a … (12 comments)
