krld: Financial Hucksters Who Push Life Settlements - 01/02/12 06:49 AM
The Dallas-Fort Worth area has an unusual number of people who have gained celebrity as financial advisors because of their regular thirty-minute radio infomercials.
One of them, perhaps others, too, has had several serious brushes with the law that resulted in fines and license restrictions.  Nevertheless, his good old boy radio appearances continue to add the trust of more and more retirees to his client base.
Apparently those who use his services have not investigated him through the licensing agencies.
Radio stations sell air time for use as infomertials, but always add disclaimers (usually at the end of the broadcast) … (2 comments)

krld: Mexican Aliens Crossing the U.S. Borders Illegally - 08/04/10 12:10 PM
The host this morning on Dallas' News and Talk station, KRLD-AM (1080), Jay McFarland, was talking rather compassionately about the illegal alien problem Americans have been wrestling with.
McFarland made the case that the majority of those who are sneaking into the U.S. aren't criminals in Mexico, their reason for coming here isn't to smuggle drugs into this country or to get a free ride on our health care, schools and the like.  But they are coming here with the hopes that they will have a better opportunity to survive.

His name is Dr. Gary Crossland, and … (6 comments)

krld: AMERICAN AIRLINES' "MUSIC 'TIL DAWN" PROVIDES BUSINESS MODEL FOR REALTORS - 10/23/07 12:15 AM
There was a time when American Airlines was one of the most respected passenger carriers in the United States.  I'm talking about a time when fares were regulated and the number of direct flights was far less than today.
In the 1950s, American Airlines advertising and marketing consultants came up with a brilliant idea.  The company would broadcast a nightly program on the biggest radio station in each market the carrier served.  Dallas, Chicago, New Orleans, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, D.C.
            The list goes on.
It would be called "American Airlines' Music ‘til Dawn," and it … (7 comments)
