When you have a referral to make, and you choose to refer to a fellow Active Rain agent, what can you usually expect? Most Active Rain agents are tech savvy agents, or more tech savvy than the average agent. A strange phenomenon that occurs during presidential election years is people who wait until after the election to purchase or sell a home. The logic behind the wait is to "see what happens". Though it is understandable that there may be a shift in the market one way or another due to a presidential candidate, it might not be a good reason for waiting.

There is a lot of concern right now over the real estate and mortgage market, and some of our clients are scared. We need to help them understand the changes and the shifts as best we can, but we don't need to give them false hopes. It is imperative that we keep informed so that we can answer their questions. Be careful, though. Don't promise that things will improve next year if you don't know that for sure.

Dealing with a utility company can be difficult enough, but when they have a monopoly on their utility, it can turn into a nightmare. I've dealt a lot with Charter Communications in the last ten years, but it seems that the customer service I receive is either less than satisfactory, or just appalling.
I'm currently on hold with Charter as I type this. I have spoken to two account reps about changing my service, and both times I was placed on hold, and subsequently disconnected. I'm a patient person, but this has really gotten under my skin.

About nine months ago, a new agent in our office gave me a Costco membership for helping him out with his first listing. I had never been a big fan of so called wholesale stores, because I knew that the prices that you paid were not true wholesale (afterall, the company has to make money - it's not a non-profit). I didn't know what to expect from this Costco place, but he was really enthusiastic about it, and the membership was free, so I took advantage of it.

I love to read books, whether fiction books or business books. I enjoy expanding my mind and my knowledge in a way that only books can bring. The biggest problem that I face is that I work so much, and when I'm finally at home I tend to take care of what I need to around the house and then head to bed. I sometimes get a few minutes of reading in before I turn the lights off, but that's usually it.

Throughout my high school and college life, I often thought about the game of golf, but it wasn't very positive. I fluctuated between the thought that it was a stupid game for people who didn't possess much athletic ability, or the fact that I thought I would never be able to control a little white ball accurately enough to get it into a hole 400 yards away.

There's no scarier sight that I have experienced in my long years working with PC computers. I say PC, because the Mac I had never crashed, so I don't know what it looked like on that end...
When the blue screen with the white letters comes up, you know you have problems. I have been expecting problems for a while though. My laptop is quite old - at least five years, which in laptop time, is ancient.

A study that was done among women who were attacked showed that 80% of women who fought back with their attackers escaped.
EIGHTY PERCENT!
These attackers weren't just trying to give them a black eye. They were trying to seriously injure, rape, or kill them.
I didn't see a corresponding study for men, but I would venture to guess that the numbers would be about the same. If someone is trying to seriously hurt or kill me, and I have an 80% chance of escaping if I fight back, you can guarantee I'm going to take those odds.

In my many REALTOR(R) Safety Seminars, I teach a great deal about weapons. Weapons can be anything - a chair, a gun, or a ring of keys. Some people choose to carry weapons with them, while others may have to utilize a Weapon of Opportunity (something lying around that can be used in a pinch).

A few months ago, I wrote a blog espousing my joy at the long awaited arrival of Top Producer 8i. I was excited to get to start using it. As a long time Top Producer 7i user, I just knew that 8i would make my life MUCH easier, and my business MUCH more productive. The media has been amazing me more and more the last year. Good reporting seems to have disappeared on the major networks and in the major newspapers, replaced by tabloid journalism that strives to either further an agenda, or entertain.
It exists in many different places, but the most glaring recently is the political coverage of the two major parties' presidential and vice presidential candidates.
