greenville sc: Insurance Rentals - We Made A Big Deal Happen Today! - 05/16/09 09:49 PM
I had some clients who were very interested in getting their property sold, but things weren't moving fast enough.  They had little to no equity in it, as they'd purchased it just a year before, so we couldn't do much with the price.  I asked them if they'd like me to market it as a rental and for lease/purchase, and they agreed.
A few days after we started the marketing, I got a call from an agent who had a couple and three kids who had lost their house in a fire.  The agent represented the insurance company, and was trying … (0 comments)

greenville sc: Great Show Coming To Greenville SC! Downtown Greenville at the Little Theatre... - 05/16/09 09:43 PM
June will be busting out all over as "Carousel" opens at the Greenville Little Theatre in Greenville, SC! This is going to be a great show, with several talented actors, a beautifully decorated sets, and amazing costumes.  I am a little biased on the actor part, however, because one of them is me!
I will be playing the part of Mr. Enoch Snow, simple herring boat fisherman who has BIG dreams! Out of my five shows I've now done at the Greenville Little Theatre, this is by far the biggest role I've had, and it's also my most exciting.  I have … (2 comments)

greenville sc: Has Anyone NING'ed Lately? - 11/22/08 09:53 PM
Brian Langley, a good friend and colleague at the office, recently introduced me to ning.com, a website where you can create your own social network sites.  These sites are similar to facebook, and allow you to create groups for any reason.
In five minutes, he and I created a group for our office, just to see how easy it was.  Then, my mind started exploring the possibilities for using ning.  My first thought was to create a website for any farm that an agent has.  It would be a great way to keep in touch with your farm, and it would … (10 comments)

greenville sc: Time To Step Back In History to 1948 - 11/01/08 09:24 PM
A rare sight appeared in Greenville South Carolina's skies today.  A large four-engine Douglas C-54E Skymaster cargo aircraft flew over the Greenville area, during a two day stay here in the Upstate.  The Skymaster, dubbed "The Spirit of Freedom", is a flying museum, dedicated to the Berlin Airlift.
The Berlin Airlift occurred between 1948-1949.  During that time, the Russians had cut off Berlin from the rest of Allied controlled West Germany.  It's an amazing point in history to study, and I recommend you do so.  The world was on the point of World War Three.
Over two million Berliners were going … (0 comments)

greenville sc: Trans Siberian Orchestra coming to Greenville SC! - 11/01/08 09:01 PM
One of my favorite bands, the Trans Siberian Orchestra, will be coming back to Greenville South Carolina on their 2008/2009 Winter Tour!  They will be performing at the Bilo Center on Sunday, November 23, at 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm.
I have been thrilled by the TSO's musical masterpieces for years, ever since accidentally turning on some sort of weird Christmas special on TV one night.  Their Christmas music features meaningful lyrics combined with amazing orchestral compositions.
My favorite TSO album by far is Beethoven's Last Night.  The album is a rock-opera, created around the thought that Beethoven was writing a … (0 comments)

greenville sc: The Greenville South Carolina Real Estate Market - 10/18/08 10:58 PM
Our market in Greenville SC has not been one of the "typical" markets that you hear about on the evening news.  Greenville SC real estate values have held steady, and in many cases appreciated, while other areas of the country are plummeting or hitting bottom.
Statistics show that our average sales price has dipped very slightly in the third quarter of 2008, and by very slightly I mean less than one half of a percent (.2%).  Conversely, our median sales price has grown slightly, by about two percent.  The average days on market right now is between three to three and … (3 comments)

greenville sc: The Greenville Little Theatre - A Great Place For Entertainment in Greenville South Carolina! - 10/18/08 10:47 PM
If you are into the Community Theatre scene, then the Greenville Little Theatre is a MUST SEE! The Theatre has been in Greenville for over 75 years, and each year they bring a full line-up of great shows to the Upstate.
I have had the privilege of performing in four shows in the last few years, including Fiddler on the Roof, Guys and Dolls, Ah, Wilderness, and Into the Woods.  Every time I get to go back out on the stage at the Greenville Little Theatre, I find that it's an enchanting and exciting experience.
Being an audience member is no … (3 comments)

greenville sc: Greenville South Carolina - Beautiful Weather, All Four Seasons! - 10/18/08 10:37 PM
If you get to spend any length of time in Greenville, South Carolina, you'll notice one thing about the weather - it's usually gorgeous!  We have our rain showers (about every afternoon in the spring), and we might have one or two days that we actually get snow (that hardly ever sticks), but the majority of the time we are blessed with beautiful weather.
As I write this, it is half way through October.  I'm sitting on my screen porch in shorts and a t-shirt.  It's a bit chilly for that right now, but I'm comfy.  I haven't had the HVAC … (2 comments)

greenville sc: I'm On Hold With Charter Communications... after being hung up on twice - 09/13/08 08:05 PM
Dealing with a utility company can be difficult enough, but when they have a monopoly on their utility, it can turn into a nightmare. I've dealt a lot with Charter Communications in the last ten years, but it seems that the customer service I receive is either less than satisfactory, or just appalling.
I'm currently on hold with Charter as I type this. I have spoken to two account reps about changing my service, and both times I was placed on hold, and subsequently disconnected.  I'm a patient person, but this has really gotten under my skin.
With the high cost … (3 comments)

greenville sc: Costco in Greenville, South Carolina - A Great Place To Shop! - 09/13/08 07:42 PM
About nine months ago, a new agent in our office gave me a Costco membership for helping him out with his first listing.  I had never been a big fan of so called wholesale stores, because I knew that the prices that you paid were not true wholesale (afterall, the company has to make money - it's not a non-profit). I didn't know what to expect from this Costco place, but he was really enthusiastic about it, and the membership was free, so I took advantage of it.
Boy, am I glad he gave that to me! I have now become … (0 comments)

greenville sc: Taking Your Life Into Your Own Hands On A Saturday Morning - 07/12/08 07:37 PM
I enjoy garage sale shopping on some Saturdays.  I'm not a fanatic, but once or twice a month I'll jump into the truck and go searching for some sort of bargain on something I probably don't really need.  I have noticed, however, that there are some maniacal drivers on the road going to the garage sales.  One man in particular would jump into his truck, zoom off (through a subdivision, not a highway), jump out of his truck, run around the driveway of the sale (literally), and repeat the process.  He nearly hit me once - if I hadn't been looking … (0 comments)

greenville sc: Tears of Sadness, Tears of Joy - 06/28/08 03:15 PM
Tonight is the end.
It's the final act.  The final curtain.  The applause will die down, and it will all be over.
Literally!
Yes, tonight is my final performance for Fiddler on the Roof at the Greenville Little Theatre, and I have mixed emotions.  On one hand, it's going to be great getting my evenings and weekends back.  On the other, I have had a BLAST!  This has been the BEST show I've ever been lucky enough to be a part of, and I know that I won't forget it easily.
The friendships I have created and the moments that have occurred … (3 comments)

greenville sc: Backstage Is A Blast! - 06/21/08 07:37 PM
We are one week from the close of Fiddler on the Roof at the Greenville Little Theatre.  This has been an AWESOME run!  It's definitely been the most exciting show I've been a part of.
Backstage during a musical production can be an exciting place.  There are people rushing to get to stage right or stage left for entrances, other people leaving the stage, and yet others sitting watching TV or reading, waiting until their cue is about to come.
When I did my first musical, Guys and Dolls, I instantly gained a new respect for the work behind the scenes.  … (1 comments)

greenville sc: Technology Can Be Sweet As Music - Or Kill The Music - 06/07/08 10:17 PM
The Greenville Little Theatre production of Fiddler on the Roof is now in full swing, with opening night yesterday.  Tonight, while doing my number, I started in on the first note (which I hold for quite a while) - and the music started going into the next part.  Well, I had to catch up.  It probably didn't sound too bad to the audience, but to me, it was a big ugly slip.
Our performance is utilizing a device called "Orch-Extra", which is fancy MIDI music.  The machine is ok, but a live orchestra would beat the pants off of it.  The … (1 comments)

greenville sc: ICAR is an I-Can for Greenville! - 04/26/08 10:44 PM
The International Center for Automotive Research (ICAR) is doing great things for the Greenville, South Carolina economy.  As this project unfurls, it is bringing more and more engineering jobs, management jobs, and other high paying work to the Upstate.  Estimates have stated as many as 20,000 new jobs were going to come from the ICAR project.
What will that do for our market, and our property values.  For one thing, the properties near ICAR will probably see an increase in value in general.  People tend to want to live near their work, or a reasonable drive from work, so the areas within … (1 comments)

greenville sc: Open Houses - Sunday Tour of Homes - 04/26/08 10:20 PM
I am trying to implement a concept that I learned from my real estate coach, Craig Proctor.  Several years ago he devised an outside-the-box method for doing open houses.  He called it his Sunday Tour of Homes.
This Tour of Homes takes place at six different listings.  Each listing is scheduled to be open for about fifteen minutes.  The tour starts at the office, where people sign the registry.  The agent then leads the tour to the first listing, opens it up, and after fifteen minutes shoos everyone out and locks it.  They go onto the second property, and so forth.
There are … (9 comments)

greenville sc: There Goes The Bride - 04/26/08 10:03 PM
I just got back from the Greenville Little Theatre production of "There Goes The Bride!"  It's HILARIOUS.
I've never laughed so hard at a GLT production before, and I've gone to them all for the last six or seven years (well, either attended or performed *Grin*).
The cast is made up of some of the best local comedy talent that Greenville has to offer.  Liz Floto plays the bride - she did backstage work when I was in Into The Woods - and she's a great actress.  Ryan Bradburn is a HIT.  He's one of the best physical comedians to grace the … (0 comments)

greenville sc: Blogger's Block - A Cruel Malady - 04/19/08 10:19 PM
I can now say that I am officially addicted to blogging.  I have been sitting in front of my computer with an odd sensation.  I feel drawn to blogging... I want to write!  I'm ready to begin the creation of a magnificent piece of blogging material - something that I am sure will be treasured for generations to come - yet for all that I think... for all that I ponder... I can't come up with anything!
This is perhaps one of the most annoying feelings I've had in a long time.  As a writer, I used to get "writer's block" on … (7 comments)

greenville sc: I HATE to be sick! - 04/03/08 11:09 PM

There's way too much work to do as an agent, especially if you really follow good models of lead generation and client care... they keep you busy!  So why do I have to be sick today???  I finally gave in at around 1pm at my office, after I had dozed for about an hour at my desk.  I went home, took a nap, and now I'm moving about the house in a semi-daze.
This makes me consider just how important my health is.  If something were to happen to me, my income would stop.  I don't have "sick" time!

With this … (8 comments)
