In 2009, I was showing property to a wonderful smaller older man that was just recovering from some medical problems. Although he was just getting out of a wheelchair for a walker, he and his wife were determined to buy a home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. By the time we came to the fourth home, his body and legs were completely out of energy, but the home looked perfect.

Obviously, real estate is extremely local...trends & statistics can vary from one side of the street to the next. Well...let's dive right in: Homes sold (12 months ending 11/1): 2011 320 $520,016 *2010 279 $564,4042009 251 $661,5002008 284 $647,6642007 433 $718,605 ** peak* +67 homes now under contract !! Overall, the numbers are very encouraging, as we have sold almost 15% more homes this past 365 days, than the previous, which was 11% more than prior to that. The slight drop in average sales price is actually a strong sign of price stabilization for our area, when you take into account the volume of less expensive homes that have sold.
