I hate to see summer go but, I love to see the Columbia County Fair arrive. For me it is the start of Fall. The Fair runs August 31 to September 5. Admission includes parking and all entertainment, Kids 12 and under are always admitted free, and ride discounts everyday. The Fair is located on Route 66 in Chatham NY.
Wednesday at 6:30 in the Grandstands is the Demolition Derby
Thursday at 9:00 AM is the 4-H horse show at the horse show ring.
Friday starting at 9:00am is the antique tractor pull, 6:30 PM is the 75th annual school queen … (0 comments)

One of the best weekends in all the world is here. The Columbia County Fair. We went last night for awhile and ate and ate and ate. Steak sandwiches and fried dough. Lemonade and french fries with vinegar. Just great for your heart burn and acid reflux. We checked out the cows,and the sheep, chickens and rabbits and the huge Budweiser Beer horses were there. They had their name tags on their stalls and fans on each of them. It was pretty hot. The demolition cars were taken place and what a crowd, could hardly get to the grandstands. Next Saturday, October 18, 2008 The Library in Kinderhook will celebrate it's 80th Birthday. The fund raising committee has asked people from Kinderhook, Stuyvesant, Valatie, and Chatham to help us celebrate by baking a cake to sell at our Birthday weekend. Each cake will be displayed at the library starting at 10 AM on our book stands among our current collect of new books. Each cake will be sold for $20.00. We support the local harvest of Columbia County. A new County Cooking Contest will be highlighted at the Columbia County Fair, Saturday August 30,2008 at 2PM. Cooks, Chefs and bakers are wanted to bring their best recipe showcasing all local ingredients. All dishes must include locally raised product. Bring enough for eight testors to take a bite. All dishes must be prepared fully and brought to the Northgate Stage off Route 66. This wonderful event will provide a $1000 prize in memory of Morton A. Ginsberg. I retired for a month after 32 years in retail and knew I needed to be with people and have an office to go to on a daily schedule. Last month I completed my 45 hours of classes and received my Broker license and I just receive an award from Century 21 for sales acknowledgement. We have a small office with just five agents and a full time secretary. We normally have customers who are looking for first or second homes.
