I just found an article about how to make money from your blog. Here at Active Rain I would think that the way that a Realtor would go about making money from a blog is much different than a basic internet market would try to make money.

First of all you need to understand what the end goal of your blog is. There are a lot of things that you can get out of blogging and i beleive that the most important is to be able to communicate with people and have them understand what you stand for and see you as more than a smiling face on a flyer or bus bench.

There is of course one other reason to be a blogging Realtor and that is to find new buyers and sellers that you can add to your contact list.

finally there are things that you probably do not want to do, you don't want to sell products, you don't want to display adwords, you do not want to monetize your blog at all as you want to keep everyone for yourself. There are ways to make sure that you keep people on your site but I would rather right now concentrate on how you can add people to your list and build that all important know, like, and trust.

Here is how to do it.

Post everyday to your blog giving info that people are looking for and holding back just a bit. You want to give people information so that they will come back but the last thing you want is to answer everything so that there are no questions for you to answer and you want to make  sure that the questions come to you.

Secondly you want to capture the names and email addresses of all of the visitors to your site. It is impossible to have all of the people that visit your site sign up to a newsletter and  autoresponder but you can sure try. All you need to do is put a form or popup onto your site and have a series of email setup to get those people interested in what you have to offer as a Realtor and also have buyers and sellers receiving emails from you early in the buying cycle, before they start talking to all the other Realtors.

I have an automated autroresponder that I use to capture and send out the emails.

Now that you can have a system it is important to get people coming to your blog. Make sure that you have this info everywhere. You need to have a simple domain address and put this on your flyers, business cards, newsletter, classified ads, and anywhere else that your name is out as a Realtor.
