Hospitals in crisis in Hilo and Big Island - 10/25/08 03:07 PM
Aloha,
Well the downturn in the economy has also affected our Hospitals on the Island of Hawaii.  Mayor Kim has said "Our hospital situation is in crisis." High operation cost combined with low reimbursements for patients and insurance companies have affect our bottom line.  What we are presently seeing is a cut in positions and a near complete hiring freeze. One CEO compared the situation "to a drowning man up to his nose in water".  The county is holding a number of working meetings to get the community involved in solutions to help solve the problem.  Not a good time for … (1 comments)

We are nearing the end of the election period and I have a dream.  My dream is that we put aside our partisan politics and stand together as Americans and work together to realize the great potential we are capable of. One of the best kept secrets of Hawaii is our University of Hawaii Campus at Hilo.  This is a beautiful campus located in lovely Hilo town. This University is a state university with a private college atmosphere.  One of the benefits of this University is the small class room size and a low faculty-to-student ratio.  You are not going to have classes where there are 400students.  When my daughter attended, most of her classes had between 10 and 20 people in them. What can anyone say?  Thank God that we had a 800 billion dollar bailout to pur the world economy on tract!!!  These kind of numbers are hard to imangine.  The bail out was the largest amount of money the government had ever injected into our system.  This was going to put us back on tract.  I was amazed at this huge amount of money.  Then I started thinking about how large that amount was.  Today was another trillion dollar loss on Wall Street.  We just had a trillion dollar lost last … (0 comments)

Recently I had someone contact me and tell me that they wanted me to list their property.  They had it listed with another agent and the listing had expired and now they wanted to list with me.  WOW!!  Good news, right, this is what we want to hear.  She had seen my ads and liked the way I marketed property.  It just gets better and better!!!!  She gave me her tax map key number (what we use over here in Hawaii) and stated the price that she wanted to sell her property for.  It is looking like a gift from Heaven, right.  … (4 comments)

Yesterday, we passed the largest bailout bill in the history of the world.  As a PROUD AMERICAN, I know that we can pull ourselves out of this financial mess with determination and hard work.  I feel, that as Americans, we would put aside partisan politics and work for the betterment of our country.  What I saw, was politicians who used this disaster to pile on Pork, for the betterment of their own interest and special interests.
