The fastest blog in the west... - 04/27/10 03:02 PM
Two minutes ago, I got into a discussion with an agent about why he doesn't 'blog'. His answer was that he doesn't have time. I bet lunch that I could write a blog, with worthy material, in less than 10 minutes. So here I am and here is my worthy material: It doesn't take much time out of your day to 'blog'. There have certainly been a few of my blogs that haves taken me a half hour, maybe more but not much, but mostly I believe it's about 15 to 20 minutes on average. So now my lunch will hinge on whether how (2 comments)
I can't believe an agent did this! Have I been in a bubble for the last 20 years? - 04/22/10 10:28 AM
I received a call from an agent yesterday who said that he had a contract written on one of my listings but there was one thing preventing him from giving it to me... He wanted a bigger split in commission! The property is being offered at a 'top of the scale' commission already, with what our normal co-broker split is, the same as it has during my entire 20+ year career. This is the first time I've ever had an agent be so bold as to demand a bigger split before submitting an offer. I admit I was caught off guard. (13 comments)

What's new at Boys Town? - 04/09/10 09:19 AM
For over 90 years, Boys Town, Nebraska has been a beacon of hope for America's children and families through its life-changing, leading-edge programs. Recently, construction sounds filled the air with a major remodelling of the Boys Town new and improved visitors center gift shop. When all the dust settled, Father Boes, standing amidst dozens of faculty, employees, students, and visitors blessed the new gift shop with a prayer. Boys Town attractions are free. However, If you'd like to, you can purchase a self guided CD tour through the campus, museum, chapels and Father Flanagan's Historic House. I Love this business! It is a constant source of unexpected pleasure! The following conversation took place a short time ago as we were wrapping up a closing with a buyer that I had been working with. Setting: Conference room, in a closing... Closer: Ok, Congratulations, you are now a homeowner! Buyer: Yay, me! Closer: As a service of closing with NLTA, we would like to offer you all of the documents you just signed on a CD. Would you like that? Buyer: (pause) Um, I don't think so. Setting Now Changes: Parking lot, me walking the buyer out... Me: Congrats again! (29 comments)
1000 fans in 36 hours! Thanks Active Rain! - 04/02/10 01:30 PM
Taking advice from several Active Rain blogs, I decided to launch a facebook fan page "365 Things to do in Omaha, NE" a couple of days ago. I've been watching a couple of other sites: 365 Things to do in Austin, TX and 365 Things to do in Vancouver, WA for some insight. Both have thousands of fans and are nicely done. Imagine my surprise when the fans started rolling in, I launched at about 10pm in the evening, by the next morning, the page had about 200 fans, then just one day later, we are well over 1000 fans and (38 comments)
