Earlier this week I was asked by a buyer client "what is an Energy Star home, and should we look for one that is?" Good questions! Here in the Boise and Meridian markets, we are seeing a number of builders promoting their homes as Energy Star homes, or promoting the Energy Star products that they have used in the build. What >IS< it all about? The Energy Star program is a joint effort by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy to promote increased energy efficiency in consumer appliances, building practices, and business energy use. This coming weekend, head out to Star, Idaho for the annual Star Mule Days, Friday June 1st through Sunday June 3rd. The weekend begins on Friday evening at 5pm with a jazz festival, featuring The Kenny Rogers Band Jazz Trio, along with other local musicians. Saturday morning, get there early at 7am and let the Star Lions Club feed you a good country breakfast (biscuits, gravy, sausage, eggs... yum!) then run it off at the 9am Fun Run. A pie contest and a book sale keep the non-runners busy until the parade at 11am. Governor Butch Otter is this year's Grand Marshal. (0 comments)
CROSSFIELD in Meridian - 05/29/07 06:05 PM
CROSSFIELD is another new subdivision that has just begun building in Meridian, Idaho. Crossfield sits south of Ustick Road, west of Meridian Road. When finished, it will comprise 213 homes on 60 acres. The development will be completed in a number of phases, and there is a community center and pool planned, as well as community pathways. Crossfield does not have "bring your own builder" lots available, but they do plan a number of different styles and sizes from a good selection of builders. KINGSBRIDGE is a new subdivision being developed in Meridian, south of I-84 on Eagle Road. The plan calls for 124 lots on 76 acres, and it will be developed in 3 phases. The complete plan calls for a community swimming pool, tot lots, a community park with a gazebo, picnic tables and BBQ stands. Kingsbridge is minutes from the freeway, and there are plenty of shopping and golf opportunities nearby. The lots in Phase 1 are available now! I stopped by the 800 Flag Memorial Day display in Eagle this morning, drawn by the sight of so many flags. If you can, you should stop by and give some thought to what today is all about. The display will be up until next Saturday, June 2. My thoughts and prayers run along these lines... It is a worthy thing to fight for one's freedom; it is another sight finer to fight for another man's. MARK TWAIN Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. This year's Parade home by Master Builder Thompson Homes is the "Sorrento". It is a luxury 2-story home with 5 bedrooms, 3.5 baths in 3750 sqft. This home won Best Overall and Best Decorated in the $420,000-$700,000 price category, as well as 5 First Place awards for Kitchen, Master Suite, Interior finish, Interior Architecture, and Exterior Design. Formal dining room near the entry of the home has hand painted 12' ceilings. The great room has a grand fireplace with marble surround and stone mantle, under a 19' ceiling. This is a fantastic home in the Settlers Bridge community of Meridian. The home is a 4 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath two-story with 3100 square feet. Cobblestone pavers lead to a grand arched stone entryway. Inside you will find expertly crafted glazed knotty alder doors and trim, maple hardwood floors, custom beadboard, slab granite and tile. There are two wonderful floor to ceiling fireplaces in the home as well, one in the main living area, and a second in a cozy hearth room off of the kitchen. April Ada County home Sales - 05/04/07 10:41 AM
Ada County Idaho single family home sales for April finished at 662 units (listed in mls as single family, not townhomes or condos, though some of those do get listed as SF). That dissapointed me a bit, as I was expecting to finish close to 700. Last year there were 832 closed sales in April, so we are well off that pace. This was about when the hot market began noticeably sputtering last year. To follow up on last week's post about existing vs new construction, it is interesting to see that existing home sales were actually better than last year! This year in April there (2 comments)
