How important is church to your new homeowners?

In looking for new homes most people have a few things that they look for and want to know about when they are deciding where to live. They look at the schools, their job, the community, churches in the area. All sorts of things. Well I would like to introduce you to a church that would be a great place for them to worship. It is Temple of Praise C.O.G.I.C. There are a lot of things going on there but most importantly, they will find Jesus there. The spirit of God dwells in the Temple. Pastor Ervin King is a man of God who is lead by God. He preaches and teaches directly from the word of God and gives what the Holy Spirit gives him. His ministers are Spirit led and teach directly from the word.

Holiness is the way of life taught at Temple of Praise C.O.G.I.C. They believe that you have to be holy to see God and they will teach you how to be holy and will help you live holy. They are located at 3941 E 13th Ave. Gary, IN 46403. The church sits 15 mins from Portage, 25 mins from Crown Point, 10 mins from Hammond, 45 mins from Chicago, and just a few minutes drive from anywhere in Gary, IN. They are there to welcome you or your clients with loving open arms.

Their Sunday morning service starts at 10:00 AM promptly. They also have Sunday school at 8:30 AM and Sunday night bible study at 6:30 PM. If you're looking for a church home, you would be at home at Temple of Praise C.O.G.I.C.

You can also view them on the web at www.templeofpraisecogic.com.

I want to help you. I just need to know how.

I've been working closely with the Real Estate community for a while now and I still trying to figure out ways to help you more and more. I am now focusing on helping you as the agent and the broker. I am with Aflac. I want to know how I can help you protect yourself against injury or illness that would come upon you or your family. I know how Aflac will help cover you. I just need to know, how can I get the word out to you so that you will be able to see the value of the service. I am in NW Indiana and I love helping people protect their finances.

I know the importance of income coming into your home and during this time of "recession" we need to make sure that we are keeping the flow coming in during good times and bad times. One way is to make sure that if you are hurt or sic and have to go to the hospital to get it taken care of, there are ways for money to continue to flow. Aflac is a way to make that happen. I would really like to meet with you to help you understand what it can do.

You can take a look at my page www.kennethinsurance.com and see just what Aflac can do for you. I look forward to speaking with you.

Do scare tactics really work?

As most of you who read my blogs know, I'm in the insurance business. I sent an e-mail at one time. I gave a story about how a person was riding a horse and the horse bucked him off and caused massive injuries. I went on to explain how our insurance could have helped the person in that situation. I then asked the person to relate that experience to their lives and see how an insurance policy would be able to help them in their lives.

We all are doing things in our lives everyday that could turn disastrous and a policy could help.

She responded to the e-mail and No thank you. I don't respond to scare tactics.

I told her, I'm so glad you don't because no one wants to be scared into doing anything but you should respond to AWARE tactics, because you need to be aware that everyday things that you think are routine can, in a second, change your entire life and you need to be aware what's available to you.

But that got me to thinking. Are people really that afraid of making a decision that they will come up with things like this? And this lady was in sales. If sales people don't recognize the difference between scare tactics and aware tactics, how much more would our prospects and even our customers confuse the two?

What are you doing in your presentation that may be viewed as a scare tactic when you were simply trying to make a prospect AWARE of something? What are you doing to avoid that appearance? Just curious. Thanks.

To Sell an Invisible House

As I was thinking today on what to write about, I began to compare and contrast (learned that in high school language arts class) the sell of insurance and the sell of real estate. I began to think about what are the similarities and what are the differences. Of course the differences are somewhat quite obvious. You sell a house. I sell insurance. After all, what is insurance? You can see it. Can't touch it. Can't smell it, paint it, put flowers on it, you can't show it to people, can't take people on a tour of it. What is this thing called insurance and how does it compare to real estate?

When you show people real estate, you are showing an actual SOMETHING. Something they can see, touch, smell (sometimes not so pleasant), all that good stuff. They are purchasing SOMETHING. So what is it that I do?

I sell them a promise. I don't even sell the piece of paper the promise is written on. I sell a PROMISE. A promise of protection. I promise that if this happens then my company will do that to protect you. If you break your arm, my company will give you money to help with your bills. If you get cancer, my company will give you money to make sure your roof stays over your head. If you have to stay in the hospital, my company will give you money to make sure that you are able to recover properly.

But isn't that what you do as well? You sell a promise. You sell a promise that when it rains outside, it will not rain inside. When the wind blows outside, it won't mess up your hair on the inside when you have your windows closed.

We both sell a promise of protection. We both make sure that our clients will be able to survive long term. Insurance and Real Estate definitely go hand in hand.

Aflac will be able to help you and your clients with protecting their financial future. One thing to remember about homeowners insurance is there is no insurance that is designed to pay the homeowner if they have an accident inside their own home. Aflac will plug that hole for them.

Indiana and Illinois agents - talk to me and I will help you.

I know it's been a while. Sorry for the delay. Aflac is great!

Hello Good People,

I've been away for a while but I'm back to let you know what's been going on. Aflac has really been awesome. I've helped SOOOO many people in the past month that I'm just excited to be here.

Since I've last spoken to you on here, I have attained my licenses in Illinois and in Michigan. So all you Real Estate agents in Illinois who need information on Aflac, just let me know.

Give you an example of what's been happening, here is a testimony of one of my clients:

"I was in a car accident that was the other driver's fault. I went to the hospital in an ambulance, on his auto insurance. The hospital visit didn't cost me anything. I filed my claim with Aflac and I received over $500. It's money just for me. No doctor's bills or anything." - L. G. Merrillville, IN

Here's one from one my fellow aflac associates:

"I was taking my son out trick-or-treating and it was raining out so I opened my umbrella on the way out the door. The handle hit the door and the spoke scratched my eye. I went to the eye doctor to have my eye treated. It cost me $60. I filed a claim with Aflac and received more than double that amount back. I made money on that injury. I wouldn't recommend that investment strategy but I'd recommend Aflac." - A.A. Crown Point, IN

Here's one from one of our policy holders who developed cancer:

"When I was diagnosed with cancer, I was stunned. All I could do was weep on my husband's shoulder. Now I look back on it as the start of a journey. We feel so blessed that we had applied for an Aflac policy just a few months prior to my diagnosis. I don't have to worry about how the bills are going to get paid - the peace of mind that Aflac has given is priceless. Thank you, Aflac, for being there." - D. G. Ringgold, VA

These are just a few of the stories that have touched my heart that has me more determined to help more people.

Here's one from one of my friends that I spoke to about Aflac:

"I just got out of the hospital. I broke my ankle. I'm laid up here in my bed with a cast up to my hip. I wish I would have gotten that Aflac policy when you told me about it. I would be able to get some help while i can't go to work." - M. C. Gary, IN

Someone told me that they don't respond to scare tactics in selling. I told them that's wonderful. But I would hope that you would respond to AWARE tactics in selling. That simply means I want to make you aware of what is available to you.

I am a tri-state agent!!! So if you're in Illinois, let me know and I can help you. Indiana, I can help you. Michigan, I can help you. Just let me know.

Until I speak with you again, take care and be blessed.

I'm sick today. I can't show houses for a week. What would you do?

This could very well be the case. In fact, it happened to my sister. She woke up sick and was out of her real estate business for a week. She was on her back. Couldn't go out, couldn't make phone calls, couldn't do anything with her real estate business. What could she do? I felt really bad for her but there was nothing that I could do for her. 1. Because she was in a different state and 2. Because I don't have a Real Estate license. My insurance license in Indiana couldn't do a thing to help her Real Estate business in Georgia. Sorry sis.

And guess what. Her husband and her 6 children live in Georgia with her, but none of them have their Real Estate license either. So she had to recuperate. Both from the illness and from the missed week of work. And pay the hospital bill for going to the emergency room.

There is good news though. My Indiana insurance license can do something to help Real Estate professionals in Indiana. If you're out sick in Indiana I can help you with your Real Estate business, well in a round about way. But here's the catch. I can't help you on THE DAY you get sick if I have not helped you BEFORE you get sick.

Aflac has a plan that will pay you CASH if you, your spouse, or your children gets hurt or sick. If you have to miss work to take care of yourself or your husband or wife, or your children, Aflac will be right there to help you with cash. (well a check)

But you have to call me today for an appointment. I want to talk to you about helping you. Put the duck to work for you. I look forward to hearing from you. My cell phone number is (219) 614-9414. I want to hear your voice.

what would you do?

I must share this story with you and ask you, "What would you do?"

I was listening to the radio today and happened to catch on there that one of the radio personalities had a substitute in for him for this week and for some weeks to come. Here's why:

"Please keep JJ in your prayers. He had an accident this weekend. He was taking his horse out for a ride on the family farm. As he climbed up on the horse, the horse decided he didn't want JJ on it. It went into a rodeo bucking. It bucked JJ off and stepped on him as its hoofs were coming down. JJ has suffered a broken pelvis, several cracked ribs, a bruised lung, a ruptured spleen, severe internal bleeding, a concusion, a broken arm and a broken leg. The doctors are delaying the surgery for his spleen as they are trying to bring down the pain level to a manageable level so that he can be put under.

"This is something JJ has done many times before with this very horse. No one knows why the horse reacted this way this weekend. The family is traumatized as you can imagine. We were in shock when we heard the news here at the radio station. Please keep his family in your prayers as they prepare for the weeks and weeks and months and months of recovery and recuperation and therapy and everything it's going to take to get JJ back in health."

What would your family do in a situation like that? How would they be able to handle your income being lost for months and months? Not many of us ride horses on a regular basis, but how many of us ride a motorcycle on occassion? a four-wheeler? a dirt bike? How many of us go boogie boarding? Go doing just everyday, recreational stuff?

We don't know what is going to be the thing that causes us to become injured and not able to run our business. Most of us on this site are the boss and the only income for our business. What would your business do if you're out like that?

I would love to help you.

Helping you with AFLAC

Hey there, Active Rain! It's been a little while since I've last posted. Please allow me to update you with the latest and greatest news.

As I looked around me, I noticed that working in the property insurance business, there were some great opportunities to help a lot of people. The only problem is there are about 15 agents trying to help the same one person. For someone like me, who is more interested in making sure the person is taken care of than getting the lowest price, well I wanted more.

I found that on July 4, 2008. I have joined the AFLAC team. I am excited about this opportunity because it will allow me to help people who are ill, injured, or the worst, stricken with cancer, to maintain their financial situation. It's a wonderful way for me to ensure that I am able to help people without them having an accident, robbery, or fire.

And it gives me the opportunity to help you. As real estate professionals I know you are responsible for about 98% of your health care plans. AFLAC is that little bit you need to stand in the gap for you. I'm looking forward to being able to help you get closer to completing your coverage plan.

Right now, I'm licensed to work in Indiana but I will be getting licensed in Illinois really soon. My website is www.kennethinsurance.com. Come on in and take a look and find out how AFLAC can help you in your life.

Hello, my name is Kenneth M. Thames with Farmers Insurance. As a real estate professional there are times when your customers ask you for guidance on where to get home insurance. When that happens, I want my agency to be the one you trust to refer them to. However, before that can happen I need to find out what's important to you and demonstrate how I can add value to you and your customers. Does that sound fair?

Let me start by sharing with you a little bit about who I am and the company I represent.... Thames Insurance Services is a business that's made up of people just like you: People who laugh, people who cry, people who get most things right but get some things wrong. We're not afraid to let you know any of it. We service the entire state of Indiana but our focus is in the Northwest Region of Indiana.

As a real estate professional, you rely on a team of trusted professionals to help you meet your customer's needs. I do as well. I call my team the Home Team. What is different about our team is that in addition to serving our customers we also actively work to help each member of the team achieve their goals.

I am a homeowners insurance specialist who is dedicated to treating your customers with the same professionalism that you would expect from your partners and that they would expect from you. I look forward to working with you on your endeavors to help as many people as you can.

Service Benefits

A team member who has the team's interest in mind and at heart - to sell a house!

Someone who's goal is to make sure your customer knows you are the best thing since sliced bread.

An insurance agent who knows about homeowners insurance and will guide your customer through the process at their level of understanding.

We service all of the following counties:
Your Insurance Could Be Bad For Your Wealth

This is about auto insurance but it's still good information. I'm working on my next one for homeowners insurance and then I'll put one together for real estate professionals so if you have any suggestions of questions you'd like to have answered, let me know. This was quite fun to do and if you have time to go on to host your own radio show, go for it. It's a great way to get your information out to your prospects. Especially if you have a website that you can include this on. Try it out.
As a real estate professional, what coverage do you recommend?

To all the real estate professionals who are helping their customers with their insurance - PLEASE PLEASE stop recommending your customers get the insurance for the amount of the loan. I, as an insurance agents, recognize the need to get the deal closed. I want to get everything done as quickly as possible too. But when you recommend that your customer gets enough insurance to cover their loan, when they become my prospect, it makes it very difficult for me, as an insurance professional, to recommend the CORRECT coverage for them.

In actuality, what you should be recommending to YOUR customers is RECONSTRUCTION COST. Reconstruction cost is the amount of insurance that it would take to rebuild the home from the ground up. If that home was totally destroyed, reconstruction cost would rebuild that home, in that same location, exactly as it was before the loss. So I ask you to continue to send the referrals to me, but as far as the recommendations here's a quick little line you can use to help us keep the customer on our team - "Kenneth is very good at what he does. He will find the right insurance for you and get you the best price he possibly can right up front. No games."

I look forward to our team continuing to prosper.
