As reported in Realty Times, www.realtytimes.com/rtpages/20100104_washingtonreport.htm, the administration has made it's strategy for how real estate needs to be addressed IMMEDIATELY. 
Specifically, the administration announced: The Treasury department said it is now committed to support Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac with as many billions of dollars as is necessary to get them through the next three years. There'll be no limit whatsoever anymore.
Previously the Treasury had limited its support to $200 billion apiece for the two formerly-private, now government-controlled, mortgage finance giants.

RATE LOCK ADVISORY
Lock Advice:  LOCKMBS prices closed down -8/32 and unfavorable repricing took place. Today's ISM Services report came in below the consensus forecast, but expectations for stronger economic growth hurt MBS markets.  The FOMC minutes from the December 16 Fed meeting revived hope for the possibility of additional Fed asset purchases beyond the scheduled expiration of the MBS purchase program at the end of March.
