The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting on Monday, September 24, 2007 at 6:00 pm at the New Fairfield High School for residents to voice their concerns about the new Shoreline Management Plan.
The Candlewood Lake Shoreline Management Plan has been set and will charge fees to lakeside residents in New Fairfield, Danbury, Brookfield, New Milford and Sherman for docks and any buildings/patios on the shoreline. These charges will be in place even though some residents actually own the land to the shoreline.

This Labor Day weekend, I was able to take a few hours away from work and take my boys over to my aunt's lake house on Candlewood Lake here in New Fairfield, Connecticut.
My aunt always wanted people in her family her enjoy the water as much as she does. I think she finally got her wish with my three boys. They love her pool. They love her lake house. They love her beach. They love the water. And, they love, love, love her boat.

The Connecticut State Department of Environmental Protection has recently released a website listing boat launches through the state.
Boaters can search for any of the 110 state-operated boat launches through criteria such as coastal or inland waters, or even by choosing a county on a map of the state.
To access the new webpage, visit the main boating page at www.ct.gov/dep/boating, select the "Where to Go Boating" link on the left-side navigation, and then select "Locate a Boat Launch." Photos and additional information on each launch are also included.

Memorial Day is fast approaching, and waterfront rentals on Connecticut's Candlewood Lake are in high demand.
Seasonal rentals on the lake are currently available for $10,000 - $32,000 for the Memorial Day - Labor Day season. (Though it looks like I will have that $10,000 rental under a lease later today). A few waterfront homes are available for either July or August.
Rentals are available in all five towns that border Candlewood lake: New Fairfield, Sherman, Danbury, New Milford and Brookfield. But they are beginning to go fast...

New Fairfield, Connecticut recently transformed two historic houses into mobile homes...
Through the efforts of Preserve New Fairfield and town leaders, along with a generous donation of the homes from a town resident, the historic homes The Parsonage and the Hubbel House recently made their 1/4 mile trips down the road to their new home, at the site of New Fairfield's future Senior Center.
View of the Parsonage being rolled out onto Route 37. The Hubbel House is further down the road, nearing it's new home. I don't think either ever quite made the 45 MPH speed limit...

candlewood lake: Winter in New Fairfield, Connecticut - 02/05/07 09:56 AM
This past Friday evening, here in western Connecticut we finally had our first "real" snow of the winter. Of course, we're now also in a bitter cold snap with wind chills below zero.
But, on the bright side, we're finally enjoying the winter landscape. Snow on the ground, bright sun shining down and reflecting off the snow and illuminating the world, and cheery blue skies. Skaters, fishers and the adventurous are enjoying frozen Candlewood Lake and the various ponds throughout the area. Children - and adults - can be seen flying down hills on their plastic sleds.
