Lake Blue Ridge was one of the many lakes in North Georgia which suffered from last year's drought. But oh, what a difference a little rain can make. Lake Blue Ridge is almost full pool now. Many of the locals use the penstock at the dam as a way to measure the lake level. You can see the dark brown ring around the penstock in the picture above. Has the market changed in North Georgia ? Yes!
More favorably to the Buyer because higher inventory offers home buyers an advantage in selection of homes and avoid bidding wars resulting in buyers paying an inflated sales price. Plus !!! Lower interest rates - still at an all time historical low and I have lenders ready to help creditworthy buyers get the financing they want.
North Georgia's market has gone through a correction which is simply part of the normal business cycle in real estate.

We were inundated with one news story after another, mostly and unbelievably negative about the real estate industry in 2007. The media sounded like a broken record with their overkill from singing the same song, same verse: the sky is falling. Many people decided for whatever reason to believe it, mostly out of fear of the unknown, I suppose. Perhaps, it was just a knee jerk reaction to what people believed was a bad market. Still, it didn't stop opportunity from knocking.

Well, it isn't snowing through the pines just yet but it is Christmas in Dixie and especially with these mortgage rates! Denise Greene, one our newest members on Active Rain and a very fine mortgage consultant sent an update to me today on current mortgage rates that she can provide through Mortgage of America Partners, LLC. Even though the rates edged slightly upward from last week, they are still fantastic! I have a 5.5% interest rate on my North Georgia log cabin and that rate is over 3 years old now.
