Fannin Gilmer Union Towns Overall, market conditons appear to be stabilizing. Below are data tables that show the market correction which took place more dramatically between 2006 and 2007. We experienced a pullback or slowing in volume sales, decrease in average sold price and in some cases, an increase in the number of days on the market. The sold price % to list price has been fairly stable in 2007 and 2008 for all four counties with Towns slipping only slightly. Jam sessions for acoustic musicians are held under the trees along the Toccoa River at Horseshoe Bend Park every Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until dusk. Ignore the news and tune out the chatter "the sky is falling" is easier said than done. If we are not in a recession, then we act like we are. We have allowed fear to become the overiding factor causing many to do nothing when it comes to investing in real estate. One should remember that real estate is a long term investment and has proven to be one of the best investments overall. Of course, there should be some skepticism and caution given the current outlook of our economy, but skepticism and caution should be tempered with reason and logic and not become out … (30 comments)

North Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains have many beautiful waterfalls throughout the northeast counties (Fannin, Union, Towns, Gilmer and Pickens). But I did not know about this waterfall near Hayesville (Clay County) North Carolina called Leatherwood Falls until very recently. My one regret is that the batteries in my camera were dead. But that's ok, because I do plan to visit the Falls again.
Leatherwood Falls are about twenty-five feet high and has a picnic area, metal walk bridge and a paved track along Fires Creek. The recreation area is beautiful and worth a a hike on the trail which wraps arount the Falls. Spend a day … (8 comments)

Here, in the North Georgia Mountains, our homes are total electric unless an owner or a builder chooses to have a propane gas tank installed (usually for the purpose of gas logs in the fireplace and possibly an occasional gas connection in the kitchen).
I found that when I came to live full time in the mountains, the security of having heat was a major priority so that I would not have to worry about whatever mother nature might deliver during the winter months.
