North Georgia Blue Ridge Area Hiking Trails, Aska Adventure Trails, Outdoor Adventure, North Georgia Mountains

North Georgia is home to some of the most legendary hiking trails in the United States.  Below is a list of trails found throughout Fannin and Gilmer Counties for beginners and experts alike.  Be prepared for the wilderness and respect the law of the forest, "leave no trace" (pack out all of your trash).  If you build a fire, never leave it unattended and make sure, make absolutely sure the fire is out when you leave.  Use caution around waterfalls where moss covered rocks are … (9 comments)

North Georgia Mountains, Blue Ridge, Hiawassee Art Works Artisan Centre, Handmade Crafts, Fine Art
This weekend I spent some time at The Lodge at Copperhead.  They were hosting their first annual Arts & Crafts show and it was a huge success!  Local artists displayed some of their finest pottery, gourds, fine art, jewelry, decorative paintings, wood carving, needlwork and so much more.

I got to know Evelyn Gantnier who is an exceptional lady and an extraordinary talented artist.  Her original and traditional jewelry designs are handmade and I could not resist purchasing three pair of earrings. Evelyn uses beautiful Swarovski crystals … (4 comments)

north georgia blue ridge mountains: Homeowner's Protect Your Home and it Will Protect You - 10/23/10 05:36 AM
North Georgia Real Estate, Blue Ridge Mountains, Residential Homes, Lakefront Log Cabins

Whether you are purchasing your first home, second home, any home, you will need to obtain homeowners insurance. If you need financing to purchase your home, lenders require a policy prior to funding the mortgage loan. Also, you will most likely be required to pay for a full year's coverage prior to closing on your new home.
Be sure you ask your insurance agent any "what if" questions to determine the right coverage for your home. Many insurance policies address "replacement costs" and this usually means it will … (6 comments)

It is my humble opinion to say anytime is a good time to be in the North Georgia Mountains but my favorite time of all is October and November because that means Autumn has arrived.Autumn officially began September 22 and right on cue, the temps changed accordingly. Wonderfully milder days and cooler nights spell  R-E-L-I-E-F after a blistering summer.  Soon, the Autumn leaves will be showing off their colorful splendor.

Georgia's Hemlock Trees - Our Graceful Giants are dying

Our native Eastern and Carolina Hemlocks are being attacked and killed by an invasive insect pest, the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid.
