snow: Here We Snow Again - Sixteen North Georgia Counties May Get Snow - 01/20/11 09:18 AM

North Georgia, Blue Ridge Mountains, Southern Appalachian Mountains, Weather, Snow I don't mean to be the "snow scrooge" but after two big snow events within a couple of weeks of each other, it makes me want to say, "enough already, this is the south afterall." Uh, what was that about global warming??? The last snow stayed on the ground 11 days and even on day 12, there are still patches here and there. After last week's huge snow and unseasonably cold temperatures, North Georgia is
Thawing Out! Many parts of North Georgia, (particularly Ellijay, Blue Ridge and Blairsville) temps were above freezing only three times since New Year's. This week's warm up breaks a string of nights that were in the low teens or even single digit, as low as 3 degrees. Even I have to admit, that's just too darn cold !
This is the fifth snow by my calculation, at least for the Blue Ridge area so far … (4 comments)

Living at it's best in the North Georgia Mountains. There's something to be said for a snowy, winter's day, when everything seems to stop for awhile, no noise, all is quiet. And there's nothing like a cozy fire, warm woolly socks and a cup of rich hot chocolate to enjoy nature's awesome display.
