Don't forget the camera!  The Georgia - Tennessee state line divides the twin cities of McCaysville, GA and Tennessee. You can't miss the blue line painted across Hwy. 60 through the parking lot of the local grocery store. Stand with one foot in Georgia and the other in Tennessee.  I purchased the prettiest sofa in a furniture store that was once there.  The state line ran through the center of the store.  The sofa I purchased was on the Georgia side and the cash register was on the Tennessee side resulting in me paying less sales tax! North Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains have many beautiful waterfalls throughout the northeast counties (Fannin, Union, Towns, Gilmer and Pickens).  But I did not know about this waterfall near Hayesville (Clay County) North Carolina called Leatherwood Falls until very recently.  My one regret is that the batteries in my camera were dead.  But that's ok, because I do plan to visit the Falls again.
Leatherwood Falls are about twenty-five feet high and has a picnic area, metal walk bridge and a paved track along Fires Creek.  The recreation area is beautiful and worth a a hike on the trail which wraps arount the Falls.  Spend a day … (8 comments)

The North Georgia Mountains offer great opportunities for hiking, camping and pure recreation .  Whether you want to be in the high country, near a lake or rushing creek, or cascading waterfalls , North Georgia has it all!
Take for example Lake Blue Ridge , located in Fannin County Georgia.  This lake is a pristine 3300 acre lake with over 100 miles of shoreline.  Camping by the lake provides a cool mountain retreat.  Lake Blue Ridge campground is designated as day use only but there is Morganton Point on the lake for overnight camping with 37 campsites, tent pads, picnic tables and drinking water. … (1 comments)
