real estate photography: Photographing Children: - 07/08/08 11:26 PM
While I specliazine in architectural and real estate photography I thought it would be fun to depart from my typical topic and talk a little bit about working with kids. :)
I began my career working with children and there are days I really miss that type of work. Also,

real estate photography: Photographing Fireworks & Happy 4th: - 07/04/08 11:04 AM
First off let's remember that today is about thanking all those who have served to protect our country. :)
Cheryl (fearless photography leader of this very group) suggested it would be nice if someone put out some thoughts on photographing fireworks.
Actually *cough* I realized I don't have any photos of

real estate photography: Unstaged Interiors & White Walls: - 07/03/08 04:30 PM
Most of the properties I photograph are staged (thank goodness!). But occasionally I do run across a booking where staging is impractical (in the case of a site still under construction, as below) or it simply isn't utilized.
This is undoubtedly more difficult to photograph. Even more vexing is that

real estate photography: Even pre-sales need staging - & - Be careful on ladders! - 06/08/08 12:21 PM
Life is a funny thing sometimes. You simply have to laugh at the odd turn of events that so often come your way.
Last year I received a booking for two new construction houses that were just being built. I was there to get some view shots. When I arrived

real estate photography: Squeezing Images: Compression - 05/09/08 04:05 PM
I thought I'd talk a little bit about types of compression and some very general information about how they work. Please keep in mind there are litterally over 100 image file types and most have some form of compression...I'm just going to look at the most common ones

real estate photography: Are you running your business like...well, a business? - 09/07/07 12:27 AM
I wanted to take a moment today to depart from the photography for a second and talk about a subject I think is critical to just about everyone on this site.
By the way, if we haven't met yet, I'm a photographer in the northwest who specializes primarily in architecture. Translation,

real estate photography: Updates, Articles?, Some neat MS software, and you guessed it..pics! :) - 08/06/07 08:32 PM
I'm probably the worst Active Rainer on here. Once a consistent participant I've sunk to random updates and very occasional lurking. :)
I'm glad to say that my absence is almost entirely due to workload (hey, one of my magazine covers just got picked for a national advertising campaign) but

If you are anything like me you've had the...um...you know, occasional mishap.
OK, wait...I need to be a little more forthright.
I've goofed up, made mistakes; I've been late, I've been too early, overslept, said the wrong thing, used the wrong name, dressed inappropriately, misunderstood the context. My Professional Photographer equipment has
