berkeley heights nj: Upgrade With Wall Molding - 01/30/08 10:11 PM
Upgrade with wall molding. Decorative touches can mean a lot to prospective homebuyers. Decorative molding can enhance the look of your walls - and add style and value. You can "do-it-yourself" or hire a professional. Think about upgrading these areas: Wall & Ceiling Junction: where the wall and ceiling meet. Common types of cover, crown, attic and picture or any combination thereof. Widths vary from 1/2" to 5". Floor & Wall Junction: where the floor and wall meet. The most complete look is a combination of a base, base shoe and base cap on top. Widths vary depending on the combination used. Wainscot: finishing a

berkeley heights nj: Reduce Paper Clutter - 01/30/08 09:58 PM
Reduce the paper clutter!!! Sort your repair bills and warranties and store them in a three ring binder so you'll know where to find them. Take a minute to write the phone numbers of repair services you use. Keep a binder for medical bills and records and organize them by date using tabs. This is definitely much better than a pile of papers. Picture albums are hard to keep up, but you want to save the photos. Invest in photo boxes or organizers and arrange them by subject and date, in the order you choose. berkeley heights nj: Monthly Home Maintenance Tips - 01/22/08 08:17 PM
Winter is a good time to get caught up on some interior projects......... Start a to-do list. Walk through your home, jotting down projects and maintenance problems you notice or that have been on your mind. Carry a screwdriver and a can of machine oil so you can immediately take care of minor issues, such as loose door handles and squeaky hinges. Declutter your closets. Throw away anything you don't need. If you haven't worn it this year, you probably won't ever again. Buy additional shelves, hooks and boxes to organize everything that remains. Next: Declutter the laundry room, another often disorganized, small

Home construction dropped a stronger-than-expected 14% in December while building permits for future construction dropped 8.1%. While media headlines show housing construction fell to its lowest point in 16 years, the details are less discouraging. December single-family housing starts were actually only down 2.9%, and the balance of the outsized drop in home construction came from the multi-family segment of the report; construction of housing with two or more units fell 40.3%, while groundbreaking for homes with 5 or more units plummeted 41.1%. Initial jobless claims for the week ended January 12th posted a surprising decline of 21,000 after seasonal adjustments.

berkeley heights nj: Revitalize With Some Color - 10/28/07 03:14 PM
Paint is one of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to revitalize any room. Here are some tips to help you choose the right shades to bring beautiful color to your home. Select your color scheme by looking at your room's window treatments, furniture and floors. If you've narrowed it down to a few shades, but the sample bottles most paint manufacturers offer and do a paint test. When painting a large area, colors tend to appear darker than what they should be. Consider choosing a shade or two lighter from your initial color choice. Lighting in the room can also affect the

berkeley heights nj: Weekly Update of "What's Happening In The Market With Patrick" - 10/22/07 10:01 PM
Look for the week ahead to be dominated by the results of Wednesday and Thursday's Treasury Auctions together with trading action in the stock markets. Mortgage investors have fully priced in the poor housing data and have little expectation for improvement in this category until mid 2008. If the value of the dollar continues to fall on global currency exchanges this week, the mortgage rates on the short-term ARMS will almost certainly edge up higher in the process. The buying spree of bonds, created by the massive sell off in the stock market, was the primary driver behind last week's rally.

berkeley heights nj: Choosing The Right Neighborhood - 10/16/07 09:54 PM
Buying a home is an investment in the neighborhood as well as the house. As a matter of fact, the character and amenities of the neighborhood may be as important to the property value as the house itself. No matter what kind of neighborhood you're looking for, it's important to know its history and future when you decide to buy. Here's what to research: Recent sales - Find out what the market is doing and what homes have been selling for.Homes now for sale - What homes are listed in the area, and are they listed above or below past sales? berkeley heights nj: Considering Making A Move? - 10/16/07 09:47 PM
When you're thinking about making a move, the first steps in the home buying process are: 1. Deciding when you want to make move 2. Considering how much you would like to spend 3. Thinking about what type of home you like 4. Decide where you would like to live The next step is usually finding out how much loan you can qualify for and deciding the type of financing will work best for you. If you're still in the "thinking about it" stage, you will want to speak with a lender about receiving pre-qualification. The lender will determine how much you can borrow based on
