localism: Will Your House Sell? Make it Stand Out. - 09/08/08 05:06 AM
Hey everybody.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all had a great weekend.
Today we're going to talk about some of the reasons that homes won't sell.  I don't think it is any secret that we are facing a challenging market, even here in Southern Indiana.  But just because it is challenging, it doesn't mean your home won't sell.  There are still houses being sold every day, just not as many as there were over the last five years or so.  So what does that mean?  It means that if you need your home to sell, it better stand … (1 comments)

localism: This Isn't Hollywood - 02/15/07 09:44 AM
It seems like every time I turn on the television there is a new "reality" show about real estate. There are a couple of shows that stand out as shows dealing with buying run-down properties, fixing them up and then selling them for a profit. If you haven't already guessed, I'm talking about Flip This House on A&E or Flip That House on TLC. Both of these are usually excellent entertainment as I find myself anxiously waiting to see if they are going to make the deadline or keep it under budget or how much money they make.Notice I used the … (25 comments)

When selling your home, there are things you can and can't control.  The three items in which you and your Realtor have control of are price, marketing and the condition of your home.  The price is something that will be agreed upon between you and your Realtor and the marketing will usually be your agent's responsibility.  The condition of your propoerty will be the responsibility of you the homeowner.
Sometimes people wait a little too long before they decide to get their home ready to sell.  This blog is geared more towards things you can do on an annual basis to help … (4 comments)

localism: Do I Need To Have a Survey Performed? Absolutely! - 12/19/06 08:46 AM
Today in the office I was talking with another agent.  She was telling me about a problem that had arisen with one of her listings.
She had listed a country home with acreage a little while back.  She went to the courthouse and pulled the data card which showed that the property had eight acres.  The owners confirmed that information.  The lady that owned it said that her father had purchased the property over fifty years ago.
Now I wasn't even around fifty years ago so I don't really know much as to how business was done then.  But I will guess that … (2 comments)

localism: Blog Topic #1, Real Estate, Bubble - The Media's Effect - 12/09/06 02:22 AM
Isn't it amazing the effect that the media has on our society?  I live in Southern Indiana right across the bridge from Louisville, KY and their was an article in one of our local newspapers a while back spreading a "doom and gloom" forecast for our area.  They even had quotes from a prominent Realtor in our area backing up their claims.  I guess I shouldn't be too surprised by it though.  This seems to be the norm across the nation right now.
I can tell you I've heard numerous times from customers that they were hesitant about making a move right now because the market was … (10 comments)
