Almost Wordless Wednesday - Aquarium PicturesEarlier this year we visited an aquarium and the below pictures were taken there. I really like the colors and the sea life. The ocean is a very complex life system without question.

Alert : Highway 99 - Katy/Cypress Harris County Sheriff Looking for Speeders
Highway 99 which is a toll road has been recently heavily visited by Harris County Sheriff Officers sitting in the emergency lane running their supposed laser radar looking for speeders. I have seen their heavy presence for at least the last two weeks. These Officers for the most part are riding in pickup trucks and in the distance appear to be someone sitting in the emergency lane. These guys have been out in both the morning and afternoon rush hour. Drivers beware as in my opinion is they must be … (14 comments)

New Scam - Missing Jury Duty
I have heard about a new scam in the last few days making the rounds in the Houston and Katy areas. I thought it was important enough to tell folks what I know concerning this new (at least in this area) scam. I also understand a local lawyer actually fell for this nonsense.

The scam goes something like this : You get a phone call from someone who claims they are with the local county justice system. This person is very confrontational and  states that you missed jury duty without an acceptable excuse. Due to … (15 comments)

Houston Housing Market Might Avoid Most of Energy Market Decline
Last month prominent real estate economist Mark Dotzour told Houston Home Builders the energy markets slowdown will continue to be a negative force on the local Houston economy for the next two years but the housing market is most likely to hold as long as inventory levels remain as they are and have been in recent months. He stated “ It's amazing how resilient the housing market is in Houston”.  Mark’s speech was given at the midyear 2016 economic forecast event held by the Greater Houston Builders Association.

Despite low energy prices … (10 comments)

News Alert - HAR News Release of May 2016 Houston Real Estate Market
I think reading this Houston Association of Realtors news release concerning the May 2016 Houston Real Estate market ( link provided below) is important to all consumers and especially to both existing and potential home buyers and sellers. We have seen a substantial amount of pessimism being expressed by various groups concerning the Houston Market. The May market report paints a different picture in my opinion.

The Single-Family homes update section of this HAR report contains a break out by housing price point segment which is revealing. May Sales … (10 comments)

Happy Cinco de Mayo and Margarita Deals
Cinco de Mayo or May 5th, or literally, "Fifth of May" is a celebration held on May 5 of any given year. This date is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army's very unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza. In many parts of the United States, Cinco de Mayo is sometimes mistaken to be Mexico's Independence Day which is the most important national holiday in Mexico and is celebrated on September 16. The above info was obtained courtesy of Wikipedia.

We Will Pick You Up - Marketing Pitch by Big Rental Car Co.
A large rental car company uses the phrase “We will Pick you up” on TV ads, printed material, on their phone system, etc. This group uses this offer extensively as it tends to separate themselves from the competition. This assistance has value to most of us and it extends to taking you home when you drop off a car. Without question, it is an excellent marketing pitch. However, if you talk the talk you also have to walk the walks to coin a often used phrase.

Saturday To Do List is Too Long! What to Tackle?

My Saturday to do list here in Katy is way too long and certainly there is not enough time to tackle all the things which need to be addressed. The problem is there are too many priority items on my list. I know the drill all too well to set a list of priorities and then work off this revised list with highest prior being done first. We were away last weekend as we were in San Antonio and the list got longer.

This morning I have already tackled doing our friends … (21 comments)

Guys - Yoga is not just for the Ladies!

Yoga I believe is practiced by and taught by many more women than men. I also believe Yoga has been stereotyped as a women’s health activity. However, this is all changing as many more men are both actively participating in Yoga and teaching Yoga. I think this trend will continue in the future as even professional men athletes have found Yoga provides them with a huge physical and mental benefit. I have seen several men in Katy practicing Yoga. How about you and Yoga?

Holiday Decorations in Grand Lakes Katy TX
Our AR friend Debbie Laity created the second annual Holiday challenge for December being Show US your Home for the Holidays. I spent most of yesterday searching for Christmas tree ornaments and other decorations in our upstairs back bedroom here in Grand Lakes. This room needs some organization and finding all the decorations was a challenge of its own. Several trips up and down the stairs was made. Unfortunately my surgically repaired hip is hurting a lot when I climb stairs. This nonsense started about 6 weeks ago.

Needless to say I did not write … (16 comments)
