Home Prices...Nationally vs. Locally - 05/26/09 03:44 PM
CNNMoney.com reports today that national home prices dropped 19.1% during Q1 of 2009 compared to Q1 of 2008. This is based on sold home prices.  Locally in the Pocono Mountains, our sold prices for the same time period slid just over 13% (Calculated from Pocono Mountains MLS).  While prices continue to decrease, inventory is increasing! This is true for our entire area, including right in the boroughs of Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg. Have you heard about Upstate PA? The Poconos will be part of this new 'image', as the four-county area under the umbrella of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau aligns with four other regional tourist organizations to form "Upstate PA," a tourist partnership promoting outdoor recreation.  11 counties are pooling their resources to promote outdoor activities such as kayaking, biking and white-water rafting...otherwise known as the "roof-rack crowd."

Real Estate Market Update - 05/07/09 12:21 PM
On Monday, May 4, CNNMoney.com posted a story about pending home sales in March jumping 3.2%! Although that is a national number, locally here in the Poconos, our closed sales price has also increased over the past couple of months.  Monroe County Residential closed sales prices (source: Pocono Mountains MLS) 
February 2009 = $149,969
March 2009 = $152,042
April 2009 = $166,683

Today and tomorrow, May 6 & 7, the Pocono Mountains Chamber of Commerce is hosting their 22nd annual expo at East Stroudsburg University.  There are 175 businesses featured and set up in the ESU Koehler Field House.  There are many different types of businesses represented and is a great way to see what our community has to offer! Run for the Red in Monroe County - 05/04/09 11:06 AM
May 17, 2009 is the Fourth annual Run for the Red in Monroe County! And the deadline for registering is quickly approaching, if you're interested! 100% of the entry fee is used toward Disaster Relief in Monroe County.  The race starts in Tobyhanna, and meanders 26.2 miles through the Poconos before ending in Stroudsburg.  There is $7000 in prize money handed out to the top finishers!  For more information about this great event in the Poconos, visit the Run for the Red website at www.poconomarathon.org.
