Minnesota Twins / Fort Myers Another 30 Years The Board of County Commissioners voted to approve a 30-year deal with the Minnesota Twins whereby Fort Myers will remain the Twins Spring training location in Hammond Stadium.
It's not a done deal yet as it is contingent upon the county receiving a $15 million grant from the state for improvements to the stadium that will benefit the team and the fans alike.
Fort Myers is also home to the Boston Red Sox which opened this past Spring training in the new Jet Blue Park stadium - aka "Fenway South."

minnesota twins: Another Day at the Ball Park...Twins Hammond Park - 03/29/12 11:25 AM
I'm a Red Sox fan for sure but, Fort Myers is home to the Minnesota Twins Spring training too at the Lee Country Sports Complex - Hammond Park. It was only fitting to see the Twins clobber the Phillies just a few days after the Phillies clobberd Boston!
Spring training games are...a lot of fun to watch.

 
Good thing for the scattered clouds, temps were in the mid-upper 80's.

minnesota twins: Opening Day for Spring Training in Southwest Florida - 03/06/10 10:25 AM
The Naples - Fort Myers area is home to the Minnesota Twins and the Boston Red Sox. Opening day was last week and we're off for a season of spring training!
In case you have heard, a brand new stadium - "Fenway South" - is being built for the Red Sox complete with the Green Monster just north of RSW (Regional Southwest Airport) on Daniels Pkwy.
