Lithia Springs,Douglasville, Ga, Sweetwater Creek State Park, Hike Last Saturday morning we met some friends for a hike at Sweetwater Creek State Park in Lithia Springs, (Douglasville), Ga. This is a very  interesting article today on Inman News. It's discussing what real estate website have moved in to the top 20 and and which sites fell off the list.  But here is what I found the most interesting.   Realtor.com is still the #1 site.  It has 6.79% of the viewing from all the sites.

Whats worse than a root canal? True story! So  I was at the dentist today getting a root canal.  Each chair has its own TV which I thought was pretty nice. In all honesty, the root canal was not as bad as the deep cleaning last month, except for the dentist sticking that hockey puck thing in my  mouth.  I suppose that was to keep me from biting his finger off if he hit a nerve or something. Just about everybody has seen the video gone madly viral from last weeks American Idol.  60+ year old Larry Platt auditioned for the show by singing his own song titled "Pants On The Ground".  It was insanely funny, fairly catchy, and a great social commentary.

I love public speaking.  Some people will jump out of a perfectly airplane and then tell you that their greatest fear is public speaking.  It makes no sense to me.  Anyway as public speaker and a fan of public speaking, I believe the greatest speaker of my lifetime is MLK. Jr.  
He moved people and changed a nation with the power of words.  So in honor of MLK day 2010 take 17 minutes and 28 seconds to watch and listen to one the greatest speeches of all time.

 One Saturday each month the members of  McEacherns care ministry get together for service, food,  fellowship.  This is a wonderful outreach ministry right here in our own community.  The car care ministry provides service and for our customers vehicles ranging from oil changes and wiper blades to more involved repairs like brake jobs or power steering leaks or whatever else God may send our way.

A milestone 3.5 years in the making...

Yep, today when I logged in it put me over the 100,000 point mark here on Active Rain.  Donna Harris  sent me the invite about 3.5 years ago and I joined right away and then promptly did nothing for several months :-).  Finally, my friend and home stager, Kathy Nielsen, called me, saw I had a profile, and said I need to start doing stuff with Active Rain.  Thank you to both Donna and Kathy for getting me started here.

Square footage coming to Atlanta - Finally! - 01/13/10 01:56 PM
 
For as long as I can remember, listings here in Ga. have not included square footage.  I heard stories why this is the case, but the bottom line is that square footage does not appear on listings.  That is all changing tomorrow.
FMLS has announced that square footage will now populate form tax records with new listings.  We can also manually input the sq. footage but we must cite the source.  It is important to note that agents do not measure the property.  We will only be quoting the footage from other sources.

Kennesaw, Marietta, Ga. Hike up Kennesaw Mountain Last Saturday in the midst of our annual snow day event, we decided to hike up Kennesaw Mountain with some friends. We met them at their home at "The Gates at Parkside Village". ** This is a fairly new complex of beautiful townhomes, located right across the street from Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield National Park.  We were able to walk out of the complex and get on the trail directly  the street. Powder Springs,Country Walk Drive - Bad Ice- Read more My wife, being the great employee that she is, just headed off to work.  About 2 minutes later the phone rang ..."my brakes aren't working, I just slid all the way down the hill, come get me".   Country Walk Drive is VERY icy.  This is ICE.  For all of you folks who have moved here from north of the Mason-Dixon line, this is ICE it is not snow.  Don't be a D*** yankee and drive like you think you know what you are doing :-).

Marietta, Ga Oh yea its cold! My daughter took the above photo yesterday at The Avenues of West Cobb.  You can see that it is a giant ice cube.  Low temp today was 18 but it's up to the 30's in the next day or two.  Colder again at the end of the week with a chance of snow or snow flurries.  The late Lewis Grizard used call this month Janu..ugly.   Sponsored by: contour abs Normally, they say that if you don't like the weather around here, just wait 5 minutes.  I don't think that's going to be the case … (4 comments)

We had the pleasure of joining some friends for dinner a Nori Nori in Sandy Springs. I had to admit that I was a little apprehensive.  I mean really, how good could sushi and seafood be from a buffet? I'll just cut to the chase and say it was fantastic!
