If you have been to downtown Acworth anytime in the last few years you know that there has been a very nice "rebirth" of the downtown business district. Henry's Louisiana grill has been a huge part of that growth.  There are a couple of big events for Chef Henry this month! Every year ABC Nightline does a contest recognizing local chefs and Chef Henry has has made the top 20!  To win he just needs our votes. Click on the platelist link below and be sure to go vote for Chef Henry! Aside from (or maybe along with) being a great … (3 comments)

acworth: Is housing UP or DOWN? - Yes - 07/29/10 11:37 AM
Cooking the books with the Fed's?
I wish it were a search for the next top chef on HGTV, but this is much more than than that, and it's real life. I had two separate updates in my email box today on the same subject.  The May housing report for new home sales was widely reported as about 300,000 (which was already bad news) then quietly  downgraded to 267,000.  The June reports are out now and there is widespread claim of a 24% increase!  However this increase only recovers about 50% of the loss from the month before!

acworth: How To Advise An Upside Down Homeowner - 07/23/10 10:17 AM

Are you "upside down" in your Cobb County home?  Over the last 2-3 years many home values in Cobb County have declined by 10-20% and some even more.  What do you do if you owe more than your home is worth?
The best course of action will depend on your own personal situation. In many cases a short sale, selling the home for less than what is owed, will be both possible and appropriate.  Other times maybe not.
If you have a home in Cobb county, Marietta, Kennesaw, Acworth, Powder Springs, Smyrna, Austell, or Mableton that you think may be … (2 comments)

acworth: Acworth, Ga. Home Values are up! - 05/21/10 12:25 PM
Acworth Ga. Home Values are up! While I don't think that Zillow is incredibly accurate, I do think it is a reasonable indicator of what is going on the market. Below is a 10 year chart of Zillow home values for Acworth, Ga.  As you can see, if you bought your home as a long term investment, the recent value has declined but the long term value is still appreciated from the value 10 years ago!
Don't wait to buy real estate.  Buy real estate then wait! I don't think there has never been a 10 year period where home … (1 comments)

Recently, I had the pleasure of doing an adult ed. home buyers class for the Marietta Community School. I have decided to take some of my outline notes and form the into a blog series for home sellers.

The class was actually a "For Sale by Owner" class. The content of this series will be more along the lines of selling by owner. However, I think there will be some good marketing ideas here that other agents might … (6 comments)

acworth: Dave Ramsey - You fix You! - 10/08/08 12:42 PM
Can Washington fix things and what are our own attitudes?  As some of you may know, I am a fan of financial advisor Dave Ramsey.Sometimes I don't agree with him 100% but I certainly can't argue with his success or common sense approaches to financial matters.  Last week I posted Dave's plan for the financial crisis. YOU fix you!

acworth: Do you know the "Bush Doctrine"? Charlie Gibson Doesn't - 09/13/08 12:22 PM
According to wikipedia  "The first usage of the term may have been when conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer used the term in February 2001 to refer to the president's unilateral approach to national missile defense well before September 11th"
Read the entire wikipedia article here
That's right.  The term was coined before the attacks of Sept 11 and before the policy of anticipatory defense. According to both wikipedia and to Charles Krauthammer there have been several different variants of "Bush Doctrine".  the idea of anticipatory defense is only one of them and not the most recent.  Read Charles Krauthammers article about Bush Doctrine and Charlie … (8 comments)
