Buying a Home or Car, Buyer Beware!

Some of you may know or remember that I spent 5 years selling cars.  It is a GodAwful business but I did learn a lot. One thing that bothered me (it shouldn't have) is how customer walk on to the lot and immediately treat the salesperson as an adversary.  Realistically they are correct to do that.

From MShades

Car buyers know that the salesman, no matter how friendly, is there to sell cars for the dealership. The salesman wants to sell you a car today, from their dealership, at the highest … (0 comments)

buying: FAQs About Buyer Representation - 05/09/11 09:38 AM

I found this great post about why buyers need to have their own agent.  Peggy is in Ct. but the process is pretty much the same here in Ga.
You need to have somebody look out for you.  Home buying can be a complicated process with several speed bumps before closing.  A good buyers agent is going to look out for you, negotiate on your behalf, and look out for your best inbterests!

buying: Buyers getting a better deal after the tax credit! - 06/29/10 08:45 AM
Now that the tax credits are expired many areas are seeing price declines.  Buyers who missed out or waited are coming out ahead! The combination of low interest rates, high supply, and lowered demand make it a great time to buy for those who are ready.

As I have said before ...... Don't wait to buy real estate, Buy real estate then wait!
********** RISMEDIA, June 29, 2010—(MCT)—Home shoppers who missed the April 30 deadline for a housing tax credit might have the last laugh. For a variety of reasons, they could end up saving more than the $8,000 … (2 comments)

buying: Paint it pepto pink..with black polka dots! - 07/09/09 09:59 AM

Why should you even consider home ownership?

Just a few minutes ago I posted a blog, How long 'til we recover?  It did not paint a real rosy picture for home values, not in a monetary sense anyway.

Over last several years something has been lost in our perspective on home ownership.  Our parents and grandparents bought homes as a place to raise their families.  A place to call home that they owned. Home ownership was a long term investment.  They didn't buy a home to resell it in 3 years for a profit.  They lived there for … (4 comments)

Part 7 - The closing   .... and beyond
Recently, I had the pleasure of doing an adult ed.  home buyers class for the Marietta Community School.  I have decided to take some of my outline notes and form the into a blog series for home buyers.  The content is geared a little more toward first time buyers but will still be very relevant for move up buyers as well.  Also, this is based on my own knowledge and experience in our local market.  All real estate is local, so if you are reading this in another part of the country … (0 comments)

buying: A few car buying tips - 04/10/08 10:15 AM
In my life before real estate I was in the car business. Its a terrible business to be in but that's a different story.  Walking in to a car dealership actually really makes me nauseous. I got tired of having to beat people up (figuratively) to make a sale, putting up with obnoxious sales manages was a whole other story.
I much prefer helping people make sound financial decisions regarding the purchase or sale of their home.
If you are in the market to buy a car here are a few tips that I would give, In no particular order :
