The 4th of July has come once again. It's a time of getting together with friends and family to celebrate our home country's independence.
Pascack Valley, NJ, is where all the action is. Picnics, Bar-B-Qs, and other family gatherings are all joined together by a large amount of parades and other exciting activities.
Towards the evening, people begin setting off their fireworks and watching the beautiful colors stream down from the New Jersey sky.

pascack valley: MAPLE FESTIVAL - HILLSDALE, NJ - 04/25/10 11:03 AM
Thanks to everyone for their responses yesterday.  The Maple Festival drew a lot of people, not only from the Hillsdale, NJ, area, but also, surrounding communities.
The PJWC had a table, creating awareness of our environment, as well as to announce the  the Hillsdale area's new "Green" team - pledges to plant a tree were made, along with samples of items made from items such as corn starch (i.e. this was the ingredient of one of the "sample" cups)...I know that I learned a lot!  There were washable tatoos and stickers for the kids.  Free trees were, also, given out for pledges … (0 comments)

pascack valley: Annual Maple Syrup Festival and Pancake Breakfast - APRIL 24, 2010 - 04/24/10 07:11 AM
Spring is definitey a cause for celebration. 
To start the celebrations, Hillsdale, NJ is having its Annual Pancake Breakfast and Maple Syrup Festival, taking place today, April 24, 2010, at Beechwood Park in Hillsdale, NJ, from 9 am - 12 pm.  There is food and fun for everyone.  The Mayor and members of the will be preparing the pancakes.   Among the planned festivities, there will be trees handed out, and, tentatively, stick-on tatoos for the kids.  It is sure to be a fun time for the entire family.

HILLSDALE
On March 25, 1898, Hillsdale Township was incorporated by an act of the State Legislature. It originally comprised all the territory between the Hackensack River and Orvil Township, now Ho-Ho-Kus and Saddle River, and between the Boroughs of Woodcliff Lake, Park Ridge, and the New York State line to the Borough of Westwood. In 1906 River Vale was given more land by carving all the territory in Hillsdale Township east of Demarest Avenue, Cedar Lane and an imaginary line due north and the northeast part of Westwood. What remained was Hillsdale as we know it today.

pascack valley: Good News for NYC Commuters - 08/29/07 02:30 PM
NJ Transit has made the end of summer more enjoyable.
As of the Fall of 2007, NJ Transit will be offering 126 new trains on the Pascack Valley line.  Included in this figure are 16 new weekday trains going to Hoboken and Secaucus and seven outbound trains, being added as of October 28, 2007.   There will be new weekend services as well.
"Passing Sidings" have been constructed along the single-track line in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, Hackensack, NJ, and Nanuet, NY, creating an opportunity for additional train scheduling.  These sidings allow trains operating in opposite directions to pass one another on a short stretch of … (0 comments)
