bogna: New life for old MIRRORED WALLS in Vero Beach,Florida homes - 09/08/10 08:45 PM
In previous blogs I offered few ideas how to give a new life to the outdated mirrored walls that are still to be found in our Vero Beach homes.
I have been thinking of" framing them in curtains", but did not have good photo to demonstrate the look until today. It comes from new House Beautiful magazine and it is perfect !
Although it is not literally what I wanted to show, yet it is pretty close .....and beautiful
Does it not give the mirrored wall completely new feel ?

By changing/replacing just one well selected feature in the space we can achieve REJUVENATING EFFECT
1. Replace largest wall hanging in the room with contemporary graphic. That will "shake up" a traditional room!
2. Use a dominant color in the room as a accent wall paint.
3. Introduce a"giant" mirror in the space.
4. Paint ceiling an interesting color.
5. Refresh your pillow story by adding one or two pillows that seemingly do not work together. That my require some skill.
6. Use over sized arrangement of fresh or dry branches for drama.

Vero Beach, Fl decorating clientele has a very sophisticated taste and likes to be up to date with new introductions.
Since the flax/gray color scheme is gaining momentum, I was specifically looking for new textures in colors of natural linen getting so popular these days. It may have to do with new, more restrained economy, hence more neutral - versatile palet.
Shown above is a group of coordinating fabrics (from the top left):
1. Interesting 3 dimensional silk like fabric in polyester, suitable for decorative pillows

The concept board is a tool used by decorators to visually present the client with their vision of the project.
It is preceded by extensive interview with the client, allowing both parties to get to know each other and have full understanding of the decorating process.
This kind of "formal" design board contains : floor plan, textiles, wall paint color, photos of furnishings and other components involved. It is usually required when presenting the project to a comity in case of design showcase , model home etc.

bogna: Two easy ideas for room dividers-- Bogna interiors, Vero Beach ,Fl. - 03/05/10 06:16 PM
This sheer space divider was created from simple gauze fabric with thin bamboo sticks interlaced for stability and the tropical effect. Originally it was planned to trim the bamboo rods down, but finally decided to leave them at their full lent to achieve that unrestrained look.
This divider was needed to hide a kitchenette in the workroom. Panel of white sunbrella fabric was stretched between 1 iron rods (top and bottom) with finials. Simulated "molding" design was painted by the artist friend.

We use mirrors in the interiors for several different reasons
1. To reflect the light from some other source (natural or artificial)
2. To visualy expend the space by creating illusion of depth.
3. To accessorize the room with its wall decoration quality, its interesting frame.
Lets take a look at the application of this impressive mirror over the mantel !

Wouldn't this be a whimsical application on the door to child's room? Only the OPEN sign should be turned around to say CLOSE ,do you agree?
I can see it also on the door from garage to the kitchen, possibly the laundry room.....what else ?
To me ,the white frame of the door is distracting from the full effect. It needs to be painted the color of the wall to look "more real" Also ...it would be very beneficial to paint the exposed portion of the door with the same red color as the wallpaper to maximize the … (3 comments)

Mmmm, you can almost smell it !
What a delicious wall!It requires distance ,though ,to be fully appreciated... and that doesn't always come easy. What a powerful effect ,almost feels like an object in this space.
Instant ARCHITECTURE in a plain space!!
