What a frightening choice of color scheme !Beige says :no-character,non-descript,definitely very casual,
it is certainly not suitable for receiving Heads of States !! What was designer thinking !! It may be his last work.
This room is only missing TV and popcorn in that bowl (in place of apples). It looks like a FAMILY ROOM rather than the office .What are the accent pillows doing in Oval Office ?!
Of all talented designers in the country...........why Michael Smith ????

In previous blogs I offered few ideas how to give a new life to the outdated mirrored walls that are still to be found in our Vero Beach homes.
I have been thinking of" framing them in curtains", but did not have good photo to demonstrate the look until today. It comes from new House Beautiful magazine and it is perfect !
Although it is not literally what I wanted to show, yet it is pretty close .....and beautiful
Does it not give the mirrored wall completely new feel ?

Few days ago I visited ROCK CITY GARDEN in Vero Beach ,Florida.I so love this place that looks nothing like a simple botanical nursery and more like a park in some areas.
While looking for plants to complete decorating my clients home,I came across PAPYRUS plants growing along the shore of the lovely little lake.
Iwill never know why PAPYRUS makes such impression on me, partly maybe its"romantic history"(the ancient Egypt...the banks of Nile and source ofthe first"paper"etcetera)
But it must be its fragile and delicate grace and oh....what beauty!

This sheer space divider was created from simple gauze fabric with thin bamboo sticks interlaced for stability and the tropical effect. Originally it was planned to trim the bamboo rods down, but finally decided to leave them at their full lent to achieve that unrestrained look.
This divider was needed to hide a kitchenette in the workroom. Panel of white sunbrella fabric was stretched between 1 iron rods (top and bottom) with finials. Simulated "molding" design was painted by the artist friend.

From February 12th to April 30th Treasure Coast Of Florida will be seeing 198 of those white flags flying on MEMORY FIELDS in rremembrance of children that died from child abuse in 2008 in FLORIDA ALONE!
Florida has a child abuse rate more than twice as high as the national average!!!!!!
One more horrific and allarming fact I want to share with you is ,that in year 2006 there were 98 flags .

I want to share this photo I came across. It seams to be a great idea for no cost accessorizing so welcome in situations of staging or open house. It only requires a bit of imagination and pair of garden scissors. All you need is to step out the door into the backyard.
I know, you will tell me its winter ! And you are right, here in Florida it is easy to forget!

HOW YOU SEE YOURSELF ! Interesting concept. Many of us are changing favorite color through the course of life according to our personal growth (I would think).
I find it a useful tool in better understanding my client.

I am back from DCOTA (Design Center Of The Americas) attending 2009 fall market.
As always, elegant affair offering variety of lectures,presentations,book signings by visiting celebrity designers. I was specifically looking forward to meeting Barklay Butera, young ,very talented and accomplished designer, who was known in the beginning of his carrier as " Blue Boy" for his blue/white interiors .His rooms were lavishly accessorized ( meaning- overly). I have been watching his style change over the years.
His topic was "Decorating In A New Economy". I might get some useful insite - I thought.

Since staging is not on top of the list of my decorating services, I have a question to you....experts : How effective ( if at all) is,what I call , "vignette staging " in very large homes, where one only wants to give suggestion of lifestyle.This has been my only experience , so far. It was done in spirit of cooperation between realtor and decorator and not for profit.
