2010 will be the year of paying attention to inventories. This will be across the board of all sectors of the economy. Housing will be important but not in the forefront as it was in 09. Manufacturing is running very tight and holding inventories low. Housing is becoming more regional and following employment. Given that there is an eight month inventory of homes at this point in time the focus will become how much comes on board. Foreclosures will certainly keep pressures on inventory. Commercial Real Estate and the associated financing would be a big plus as this would create jobs … (2 comments)

economy: The Weak dollar and the US housing Market - 11/28/09 09:10 AM
Having interest rates low is a plus. The ability and/or willingness of banks to lend is the negative. The weak dollar has created an environment for investors ( of the bond market) to look elsewhere. By creating the huge amount of paper dollars and the disparity of the population of those that have savings and those that have debt there is a gridlock. Inflation is the key factor that has everyone scared. Those struggling can hardly afford commodities and increased prices would only lengthen the recovery.
