Passports....... - 01/16/08 03:51 PM
I am a dog lover and a reader. I came across this story this week and wanted to share it with all of you.
If you have ever had to put a dog or other animal down, this may ring true for you.  It certainly did for me.
I hope I have a few passports waiting for me.....
It is hard to kill a dog. We put it off and we delay and when we finally do it we ask ourselves afterwards if there wasn't something more we might have done. And of course there was.  Whenever you you have to kill … (21 comments)

Life Lessons - 01/11/08 10:28 AM

These life lessons are not mine but are worth repeating
and looking at, especially as we  assess the old year
and look forward to a new one.  I have lived long
enough to know that they are true.  May they help you
love life and make the most of it.

To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me.
It is the most requested column I've  ever written.  ~  Regina Brett of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio.

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

What Color Are You ??? - 01/06/08 08:48 AM
The news this morning was full of political rehashing and banter.
While eating my breakfast, I heard this question:
"What will Barack Obama's reaction be as  the first black candidate to win a
presidential   primary? "
I cringed.  I think this question is inane.    How do you think he feels?
I'd say pretty darn good and rightfully so...
                                                                         HE WON.
Does the emphasis on his skin color make any difference to the answer. I don't think so, so why ask it?

Calvin College Presents the 20th Annual January Series of FREE Lectures - 01/01/08 02:46 PM
Calvin College, a local university, has presented free lectures to the Grand Rapids community for the last 19 years, in their January Series.

We have attended a few of the lectures for the last few years, and found them to be highly informational and engaging.  Because they are held during the day, it is difficult for most people to attend.  The last few years, Calvin College has been recording the presenters, if … (8 comments)
